The tale of two fragile and sensitive vampires, Adam (Tom Hiddleston) and Eve (Tilda Swinton), who have been lovers for centuries. Both are cultured intellectuals with an all-embracing passion for music, literature and science, who have evolved to a level where they no longer kill for sustenance, but still retain their innate wildness. Their love story has endured several centuries but their debauched idyll is threatened by the uninvited arrival of Eve’s carefree little sister Ava (Mia Wasikowska) who hasn’t yet learned to tame her wilder instincts. Driven by sensual photography, trance-like music, and droll humor, Jim Jarmusch’s Only Lovers Left Alive is a meditation on art, science, and the mysteries of everlasting love.
A depressed musician reunites with his lover in the desolate streets of Detroit. Though their romance has endured several centuries, it is tested by the arrival of her capricious and unpredictable younger sister.

Simply Amazing!!I dont understand why some people didn’t like it this is a vampire film taken to a different level no this not Dracula untold, Underworld, or Twilight this film gives you a different perspective of what a vampires life would be in the 21st century and to me the most realistic.Oh and by the way no Adam is not a hipster he simply loves music. I don't see how people like this movieThis movie is the epitome of boring, there is no action whatsoever. This movie is basically 2 hrs of chit chat about their empty life as immortals. Of the little action that it showed (if you can call it that), it was a tease to draw me into the movie so I won't turn it off. I wasted over 2 hrs of my life watching this movie that I'll never get back..Score: 1/5

Much Funnier Than I Expected.Really. I expected it to take itself super seriously, what with the themes, and all the cultured name-dropping. But it was really, really funny, in a quiet, self-deprecating way. Tom Hiddleston's depressed hipster vampire was *ahem* GORGEOUS, and some of the funniest situations came from his ultra-serious, hermit-like attitude towards life. Tilda made an excellent foil for his melancholy, and the two of them had great chemistry together. Aaaand then there was Mia's character, the hugely unwelcome little sister who literally hasn't got a clue that they're less than ecstatic when she comes to stay. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that Christopher Marlowe is portrayed as being the author of Shakespeare's plays. None of that Anti-Stratfordian nonsense for me, thank you very much. Oh! But that was almost forgivable when I noticed that BUSTER KEATON (one of my favorite people of all time) was right smack in the middle of Adam's wall of fame..Score: 4/5

Not for everyone (AKA people who don't enjoy mindless action movies)I absolutely loved this movie. The acting, the direction, the cinematography, the plot line... All of. It was just a beautifully done movie. Tilda Swinton was grande, but what really blew me away was the performance by mr. Hiddleston. And no, I'm not just some fan girl giving him credit because he's "so dreamy". I truly appreciate actors based on their acting skills, and with every performance I've ever seen atom Hiddleston give, I've always been blown away by how talented an actor he is. I've seen I enough interviews with him to know what type of guy he in in real life; humble, smart, funny, carefree... And so when I see him play a character like this, especially to the point where you forget it's Tom Hiddleston, I am reminded of the endless talent I this man has As an actor. The movie was so well made, and the story line and plot were completely primal. It was just gorgeous. I recommend this movie to everyone who can appreciate it's beauty and depth, and not the people who only want mindless movies..Score: 5/5
It's different, and that's goodThe pace in this film is slow. On purpose. To force the viewer to sympathize with the monotony that has become the protagonists' lives. It's a chilling story about the deepest kind of love, and the effort of both parties it takes to get there. It's not a thrilling movie, it's an art piece. If you're watching it to see vampires ripping people apart, perhaps look somewhere else. If you want to think deeply about the nature of love, this is a wonderful place to be. Beautifully done, incredibly acted. Hiddleston and Swinton are fantastic and surreal. Most thought provoking film I've seen all year..Score: 5/5
