AwefulI am a big fan of Cameron Crowe, love his style and feel. And we just saw A Star is Born and wanted to see some more Bradley Cooper. But this film was just a hot mess. The various aspects did not hold together well. Good acting, great sets, some witty dialogue, lots of "feel good" potential, but the way it shuffled around from a "the girl that got away" love story, to (spoiler alert) a "save the world from nuclear disaster" plot was just too much. Add in the "angst-towards-the-colonial-oppresors" native Hawaiin subtext, and the "is she really my daughter" saga, and you've got too many dispart parts that just did not hang together well. The only upside was, I got I nice nap in about half way, and only had to endure the last half, seeing I had missed nothing along the way.
