MAJOR CRIMES returns with more mysteries in season five as the squad must solve some of the most challenging homicides in America’s second largest city. From searching for a missing teenage girl who vanished while helping the homeless, hunting down the killer of a potentially dirty cop or following up on a beheading in an isolated corner of Los Angeles, the investigators attempt to return balance to the scales of justice. Also this season, Sharon strives to push Rusty through college while figuring out where she wants to go in her ongoing romance with Andy Flynn; Julio Sanchez decides to try to adopt a child himself; Provenza develops sensitivities related to his new marriage to Patrice (Dawnn Lewis); Buzz Watson picks up the 30-year-old murder investigation of his father and uncle; Mike Tao wins an award for his work as a Hollywood consultant; and Amy Sykes confronts the idea of motherhood versus focusing on her career.

Not Sure Why I Like ItUnsure why I like this show, but I do. The actors are years past mandatory police retirement age and a couple are eligible for Social Security. The humor is usually weak (compare to truly witty dialogue in Person of Interest). The plots seem stretched and/or tortured. Still, the characters are very likable with balanced, developed personalities. I think that's why I watch; I want to see what's happening with the characters..Score: 4/5
One of the best ensemble casts on TVI have watched this show since it started with The Closer, The acting talent of this ensemble is outstanding. These are characters that these actors have been playing 12 years and the growth of the roles has helped to get you emotionally connected to these characters. It is very rare that a show is written that does not leave any character stagnant (which a lot of TV shows will do), each one has grown and still continue to evolve as we watch. I like that each season has a theme that it is based on. I was so glad to read that the show has been picked up for another season. They do create magic with good scripts and trust that the actors have with each other when filming the show..Score: 5/5
