Having left the safety of being Cat Grant’s assistant at Catco Worldwide Media in order to figure out what she really wants to do, Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) continues to work with Hank Henshaw (aka Martian Manhunter) and her adoptive sister Alex (Chyler Leigh) at the DEO as Supergirl – protecting the citizens of National City and searching for her missing father Jeremiah (Dean Cain) and the secret research lab Project Cadmus. Along the way, she will team up with her Kryptonian cousin Kal El – aka Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) – to battle new villains both terrestrial and extraterrestrial, from the DC Universe, as she strives to balance her personal life with friends/allies James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan) and more with her busy life as a new Super Hero in SUPERGIRL Season Two.
Supergirl is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El, Superman's (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

Used to be goodI was a big fan of season one. The show was about female empowerment and having a superhero that looked like me. They have been open about lesbian and interracial relationships, which I love, but this season... There have been some great moments this season but it's been overshadowed by a forced, gaslighting, abusive relationship between supergirl and a frat boy and seems to be more focused on the male sidekicks character development then on Kara's. The writers have a really great thing but they are turning it into every other show that I refuse to watch. I also want to be clear that I'm not writing this review because my ship didn't happen, it's because I'm sick of young girls seeing boys stalk and mistreat girls and still get them. I'm sick of amazing girls being shown they have to settle for mediocrity. The 'bad boy that needs saving' story line is trite and leads girls to think that the behavior is normal. It leads to girls in abusive relationships and suddenly an amazing show about women is portraying this as a good thing? I paid for the season in advance but I'm out guys, I'm not even finishing it..Score: 2/5
Kara is great, but what happened to her as the hero?I love Kara so much, and her relationship with Alex has always been the heart of the show -- Season One was beautiful that way. Alex and Maggie are also beautiful together -- it's such a sweet, heartwarming relationship; Maggie in particular is a great character I would love to see more of (together with Alex, but maybe also flashbacks?) Yay for Alex/Maggie. That said, I'm not watching the show to watch Kara being gas-lighted by some bland-looking white dude who sneers at her, lies to her, manipulates her; he disregards her stated clear wishes at every turn -- and the show asks us to laugh off his disgusting controlling behavior? No, thanks. What were the writers thinking introducing Mon-El? Is he meant to be the Abusive Boyfriend some of us women have in our twenties? This show does NOT do a good way of highlighting how destructive and mean such men are..Score: 2/5

Supergirl season 2While there are aspects of the second season I enjoyed the heavy handed insertion of Mon-El as a love interest and "lead" eclipsed most of my excitement. Gone are a lot of the sister scenes. Gone is James/Kara building a Clark/Lois dynamic. Gone is Cat Grant giving the series a necessary gravity and wit. Gone is the progressive series I looked forward to when Alex was confirmed as a lesbian woman and time devoted on the diverse cast the writers seemed proud to give plenty of material and development to in season 1. What I got instead was screentime dominated by Mon-El, a cardboard cutout for every other entitled male character who is rewarded by the heroine after seems to suddenly loses her self respect and ethics. Will not be returning for another season, it's become a teen soap spending too much time on a spoiled pretty boy winning the girl he doesn't deserve. I can watch OUAT for terribly written romance and underserving men if I have to, they should have left that dynamic out of Supergirl. At least Hook didn't own slaves (that we know of)..Score: 2/5

Quality FallingSeason 2 started strong, but then got weak and fast. Supergirl herself is very immature. As matter of fact every character on this show is immature. James Olsen and Finns reasons for being heroes are shallow. Also, the whole love story line between Supergirl's sister and Maggie the cop is not necessary. It comes off as being a social agenda. Now I'm not saying same sex relationships are bad. The shows way of handling it doesn't seem genuine. Not to mention they just glossed right over the fact the Maggie stayed the night at Supergirl's sister house and in the morning was wearing her shirt. Okay so basically it's safe to say they had lesbian sex. Again, not against same sex relations. Just pointing out the absurd nature of the scene. Given it's target audience is young females who are not at that point in their lives to be stressing about sex and sexuality. It's almost as if our PC society is so quick to tell children it's okay to be attracted to the same sex and be comfortable with their sexuality. When in fact they're not even at the age yet to be worrying about it. We fail to realize this as adults. Sorry, let me get back on track to why the writing is lazy and bad. They're constantly establishing Supergirl's powers at the beginning of each episode. Then in the second act the writer take her powers away. Then in the third act so the writers can make an attempt to finish strong they give her powers back to her. The writers do this with shallow and weak examples to justify this type of writing. I say it's bad and lazy writing. Constantly breaking their own rules in term of what came before. Do they have a show bible to refer to? Or how about some one to monitor the scripts for continuity and consistency? Doesn't seem so..Score: 3/5
Phenomenal Cast and SeriesThis is such a great series. The positivity and strength that buoy this show is a breath of fresh air. Melissa Benoist is perfection in the lead. She portrays two separate roles flawlessly. Chyler Leigh is beyond compare as her sister Alex Danvers. The rest of the cast is fantastic but it is this sisterly bond that is the focal point that anchors this show. The chemistry these two women share in these characters is palpable and I'm so proud of where the series is going now in Season 2..Score: 5/5
