Dark, Clever Urban FantasyNote: I've seen the first season and a couple episodes from the second. I avoided The Magicians for quite a long time because I assumed it would be a mediocre series. Instead, it's something special. Quentin and friends attend a magical school. They quickly realize that magic is a whole lot more dangerous and deadly than they had imagined. Brakebills is their school of magic, and its faculty are woefully ill-prepared to protect their students from the big-bad, also known as the Beast. So it falls to the students themselves to gather knowledge and resources to prepare as well as they can for their confrontations with the monstrous bad guy. Along the way, romance, betrayals and new friendships. This one is definitely at least PG-13 due to adult themes, including gruesome murder, molestation and rape..Score: 5/5
