The ninjas are suspicious when their arch enemy Lord Garmadon moves in to help search for his missing son Lloyd - but realize they have to work together in their attempt to rescue Lloyd from the snakes inside the unstable Fire Temple that is built on a volcano.
The ninja and Sensei Wu try to infiltrate the Serpentines’ inner sanctum and walk right into a trap, and when Lloyd’s rescue mission fails, there is only one person who can help them, namely the evil Lord Garmadon – but can they trust him?
When Moro uses the Realm Crystal to open a portal to the Cursed Realm, ghosts take over the town - but the Ninja, in disguise, manage to get Lloyd to the center of the town and Lloyd steals the crystal... only to discover it’s too late as the Preeminent arrives.
As the ghosts converge around and mobilize the Preeminent into a hulking giant behemoth, the Ninja use Airjitzu to fight the mobile beast in an attempt to slow it down – while, at the same time, Lloyd faces off with Moro, battling over the Realm Crystal; a fight that takes them in and out of different realms.

Ninja heroes Kai, Jay, Zane and Cole take on Lloyd Garmadon, the son of their archenemy, who has released sinister snake tribes in his attempt to conquer the land of Ninjago. But in an unlikely twist of fate, they join forces to stop an enemy prophesied to cast their land into eternal darkness.
The ninja must team up with Lord Garmadon to fight off an invasion by the Oni. But the cause seems hopeless, as Cole is lost and even the power of the Four Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu is not enough to halt the demons’ wave of destruction. The ninja will have to unleash the ultimate power of creation to counter this dangerous threat.
While Lloyd and Nya resist Emperor Garmadon’s oppressive hold on NINJAGO City, Young Wu and the rest of the Ninja are stranded in a barbaric realm where fierce dragons are being hunted down by Iron Baron and his gang of Dragon Hunters. Lloyd must endure in NINJAGO City, the others need to find the fabled Dragon Armor if they ever hope to get back home to stop Emperor Garmadon once and for all.

Specials Nog voordat de tijd een naam had, werd de wereld van NINJAGO gemaakt door de Eerste Spinjitzumeester. Hij gebruikte daarvoor de vier gouden wapens van Spinjitzu: wapens die zo krachtig waren dat niemand alle kracht tegelijk kon gebruiken. Toen hij overleed, zworen zijn twee zoons om ze te beschermen, maar de oudste zoon, Lord Garmadon, werd meegesleept door het kwaad en wilde alle wapens in handen krijgen. Er ontstond een duel tussen de twee broers. Lord Garmadon werd verslagen en verbannen naar de onderwereld.
Stagione Pilota: Maestri di Spinjitzu Dopo aver scoperto che Garmadon era ancora vivo ed assetato di vendetta, Wu decise di cercare quattro allievi per trasmettere loro i poteri degli elementi e trasformarli in ninja. Dopo aver trovato Cole, Jay e Zane si accorse che mancava ancora Kay, figlio del fabbro, Maestro del Fuoco, a cui aveva affidato la mappa delle Armi d'Oro. Kai inizialmente si rifiutò cacciando Wu; tuttavia il maestro rimase nelle vicinanze prevedendo un disastro imminente. Infatti poco dopo comparvero Samukai e gli scheletri intenzionati a rubare la mappa. Wu li sconfisse ma non riuscì a impedire che prendessero la mappa e la sorella di Kai, Nya. Volendo ritrovarla, Kai si affidò al maestro, e, dopo un lungo allenamento Wu gli fece conoscere gli altri allievi; dopodiché nominò Kai Maestro del Fuoco, Jay Maestro del Fulmine, Cole Maestro della Terra e Zane Maestro del Ghiaccio. In seguito partirono alla ricerca della Falce del Terremoto, che riuscirono a recuperare cacciando gli scheletri. Tuttavia, quando dovettero affrontare il drago guardiano, furono costretti a usare la Falce per difendersi, disobbedendo al maestro. Adirato, il maestro li rimproverò, per poi partire alla ricerca delle altre. Dopo aver recuperato il Nunchaku e gli Shuriken si diressero al Monte della Fiaccola dove si trovava la Spada del Fuoco. Sul monte, Kai fu ingannato da Garmadon, perdendo così la Spada ed il maestro, che precipitarono entrambi nell'Oltretomba. Kai salvò Nya e riuscì ad addestrare il Drago del fuoco. I Ninja persero anche le altre armi, e, con l'aiuto dei draghi degli elementi, si diressero verso l'Oltretomba. Intanto Samukai affrontò Wu con le Armi d'Oro e lo sconfisse, rubando la Spada del Fuoco; però, quando gli fu ordinato di consegnarle a Garmadon, si rifiutò abbagliato dal potere, ma, non riuscendo a gestirlo, collassò trasformandosi in un portale che consentì a Garmadon di fuggire dall'Oltretomba. I Ninja salvarono Wu e andarono a vivere con lui e Nya al monastero.
