Law & Order: Special Victims Unit chronicles the life and crimes of the elite Special Victims Unit of the NYPD. The show stars Christopher Meloni, Mariska Hargitay, Dann Florek, Richard Belzer, Dean Winters, and Michelle Hurd. The series follows Detective Elliott Stabler (Meloni) and his partner Olivia Benson (Hargitay). Overseeing the unit is Captain Donald Cragen (Florek). Also joining the unit is a familiar face from NBC's Homicide: Life on the Street — Detective John Munch, played by the wisecracking Belzer. Munch brings his acerbic wit and street-honed investigative skills to the squad. Rounding out the team is Munch's partner, Detective Brian Cassidy (Winters), an enthusiastic newcomer, and Detective Monique Jeffries (Hurd), a young, attractive African-American woman, an aggressive member of the Special Victims Unit. Each episode features a new case to solve, new victims to console as well as the constant struggle for the detective to juggle the emotional toll of the job and the pressure it puts on their personal lives.

I love svuSVU is the best law and order around. The characters are compelling and the storylines are well thought out keep you on the edge of your seat for each and every episode. Not that I don't like the other l&O's but this one is by far the most addicting of them all. If you haven't seen it yet by the first episode, Payback, it'll get you hooked and then you'll buy the whole first season..Score: 5/5
A far cry from the originalThis is not at all what the original Law & Order was. There is much more violence on this show (not that that's neccessarily a bad thing) and much less of the court system (which is definately bad) making this show the one thing that the original was above: a cops show..Score: 2/5

Please make available in HDIt would be nice if this content were upgraded to HD. It has been available in HD in the US iTunes Store for a number of years and the lack of HD here has always been the one blocking factor for my purchase. Great showI have to I love this show. The only thing that is stopping me give the full five stars is due to that seasons two and three are not available and season four you have to buy each episode which makes it almost four times expensive than the other season. I know it is not Apple that set the prices or up load content, but, the content owners do.. All I can say is come on people, get your finger out and get it sorted. As you can tell by the other comments on here it is a very popular programme and a ew other people have commented on this. I know places like Amazon and NowTV have the full seasons.
