Simmons) is a lowly cog in the bureaucratic machinery of a Berlin-based United Nations spy agency. J.K Simmons is why I started watching, ep 7 is a example of why to stay.Spoiler. I am glad that it is an adult show, and some titillation is fine. But the main two things about ep 7 that struck me as amazing was as follows.Spoiler. A few things in ep 7 that I think are important, including the not as important but mildly amusing lesbian scene. I am glad that it is an adult show, and some titillation is fine. But the main two things about ep 7 that struck me as amazing was as follows. For one there is a scene from both sides about "Anna's" room their daughter that I thought was rather moving and important. I also realized that even though I understand the more aggressive "in the know" spy side of J.K. Simmons, the other him has something that is not often portrayed as a positive in cinema that is an all but forgotten trait that can be as important or at least fulfilling... humility..Score: 5/5
John Le Carre writes SciFi!If you mixed up Tinker Tailor & Fringe...The BEST series of the year, absolutely stellar. Counterpart is hard core spy genre with a realistic sci fi aspect that is played dead serious. JD Simmons is effing brilliant. Don't tell iTunes, but I would have paid a million dollars to see it. You'll never see the twists coming. In fact, you may be confused. When you finish episode 7, stop and re-watch the episodes from the beginning. You'll see them with fresh eyes. I envy you..Score: 5/5

Not for the Simple-MindedSeriously, this show is not for the simple-minded crowd...this is quite cerebral. this show is complicated, hard-to-follow but very rewarding from first to last. I really hope there's a Season Two, the ending of this season does suggest another season (continuation). Amazingly, the lead actor is Academy Award winning J.K.Simmons and also a great job by Olivia Williams too..Score: 5/5
