It's 1940 London and Britain have lost the Battle of Britain resulting in an invasion by Nazi Germany and the vast majority of England and Wales being under Nazi occupation. Scotland Yard is under the control of the SS, and report up to the German General Kellerman. Archer and his Sergeant, Harry Woods, investigate a suspicious death and become embroiled in the complex and deadly politics of his German superiors and the British resistance.
