Old Fart58 year old white gay man old fart in a 34 year monogamous relationship, so what do I know about the ball scene? I am absolutely mesmerized by this show and cast. Billy Porter needs to win an Emmy for his acting in the scene where he learns his HIV status. I wish I could thank him. We are ALL part of the community, even though I did not experience the ball scene myself. But I experienced the horror of the time and fear of the disease. Heartache is heartache, love is love, and I LOVE this show and it’s cast. They bring to life the grief and prejudice we all STILL experience, and show us how we can be strong in love. I love you all! Motivated to create a legacy, and with encouragement from her friend Pray Tell (Billy Porter in his Emmy®- and Golden Globe®-nominated role), the fierce patriarch and emcee of the house balls, Blanca breaks from Elektra (Dominique Jackson), mother of the House of Abundance, and starts her own house. The newly formed House of Evangelista becomes a haven for anyone searching for a home, and provides support to LGBTQ youth rejected by their birth families. Soon, Blanca’s new family includes streetwalker Angel (Indya Moore), aspiring dancer Damon (Ryan Jamaal Swain) and his boyfriend Ricky (Dyllón Burnside), and street-wise Lil Papi (Angel Bismark Curiel).
