An Absolute MasterpieceThis is STAR TREK at its very finest and television that is years ahead of the times. I grew up on classic TREK and TNG but had never done DS9 despite it having a reputation for high quality. During the lockdown in 2020 I finally took the dive and my reward was a smart, adult, nuanced piece of entertainment that feels worthy of the modern "golden era" of cable dramas while somehow still feeling 100% like STAR TREK. It will take two seasons to set the chess pieces but if you stick with it you'll be given a complete story with the strongest characterization, writing and performances that the franchise has ever seen..Score: 5/5

Love this Series!!I keep seeing reviews where people are dogging Apple because they don't offer the series in HD. Here's a clue... Apple can't offer what doesn't exist. The producers remastered the original series and The Next Generation, but they stopped there. Neither DS9 nor Voyager were given a 2nd glance because remastering TNG was too expensive and too time consuming. Stop dogging Apple! It's not their fault! If you want to see this series in HD, rally the producers!! As for the series... most people didn't care much for it while it was in full swing because they were so accustomed to the utopian premise upon which Star Trek was built, and DS9 veered somewhat from that premise. To be honest, I wasn't much for it either, but it was a series aired before its time. The last few years have seen an upswing of fans because people are starting to realize the utopia of Star Trek is really a farce. Picard even ran that direction, and it was a huge success. This is an amazing series with characters larger than life... They are believable, very well written and played, and you can identify with most (if not all) of them. If you're a Star Trek fan and have never watched this series, I highly recommend you give it a chance!!.Score: 5/5

My Favorite TrekThis by far is my favorite Star Trek series. I might be perhaps a bit biased since I watched this when I was coming of age in high school and early college years, but I really enjoyed this series for a number of reasons, but one of the primary reasons I enjoy it is due to the extremely rich character development and the engagement of a number of ethical dilemmas and issues that I felt weā€™re ahead of its time when it was filmed in the 1990s. I feel the acting is exceptional, with the majority of the cast being stage trained. The serialization and plot arcs was new to Star Trek at that time and really valuable as it expanded the understanding of the Star Trek universe. Also, one of the highlights of the show was the ethical dilemmas, religion and how it could be linked to issues facing our society today. When I watched the last series episode - I thought it was a great ending and pretty much brought me to tears and was an emotional end, watching this truly was a journey. Thirty years later, I still watch this series again and I enjoy it every time. I still really enjoy every series I feel that where TOS and TNG added a framework; DS9 pushed the envelope of storytelling in the Star Trek universe..Score: 5/5

The date: 2369. After 60 years, war-torn Bajor finally wins its freedom from a brutal occupation by Cardassia. Weak but wary, Bajor's new provisional government invites Starfleet to oversee and defend an old Cardassian mining station in orbit. In hopes that aiding Bajor will one day lead to its joining the Federation, Starfleet assigns Commander Benjamin Sisko to head the station, now dubbed Deep Space Nine. A single father still bitter over the loss of his wife in battle, Sisko is not happy about the mission — until he discovers a stable nearby wormhole to the distant Gamma Quadrant and meets its builders, the aliens worshipped by Bajorans as "The Prophets." Overnight, the station becomes a strategic hub of commerce and exploration where Sisko and his crew must help heal Bajor, keep Cardassia at bay, and handle whatever unknowns might be lurking just beyond the wormhole.
