In Oxford’s Bodleian library, brilliant American historian and reluctant witch, Diana Bishop, unwittingly calls up an ancient magical manuscript - Ashmole 782 - which has been missing for centuries. Diana finds herself confronted by acclaimed geneticist and vampire, Matthew Clairmont, who is determined to get his hands on the book. Diana’s determination to not be frightened by Matthew as he struggles to control his predatory instincts fuels a dangerous connection between the two of them. And, when news of the book’s appearance spreads throughout the world of daemons, vampires and witches hiding in plain sight amongst humans, the hunt for the witch who summoned it takes on a deadly intensity.
Blind to the interest she has stirred amongst creatures, Diana fights an increasing pull towards the magical and turns her back on her witch heritage. But, matters take an unexpectedly dark turn when Satu is sent by Peter Knox to intimidate her. In Venice, the beautiful but murderous, Juliette, has her fatal obsession with Matthew Clairmont re-awoken. And just as Diana decides to trust Matthew with a secret only she knows about the book, he flees in a desperate bid to protect her from his cravings. But, in doing so, he leaves Diana exposed to all of her enemies.
Domenico takes information he’s extracted from Satu to menacing vampire, Gerbert, who gains the advantage he has been waiting for. After sending Juliette into the world to do his bidding, Gerbert consults with Meridiana, the witch whom he keeps in thrall, but what does the prophecy she delivers mean? In Oxford, Diana refuses to help Knox realise his supremacist longing to destroy the vampires and answers his threats with such a violent force of untamed elemental power, that it sets in motion a wider chain of events that bring her closer to Matthew but place her in even greater jeopardy.
Matthew’s hope of keeping Diana safe at Sept-Tours appears short-lived as Ysabeau refuses to welcome the warmblood under her roof. Knox calls an emergency meeting of the Congregation to denounce Matthew for abducting a witch, but Matthew’s ferocious older brother, Baldwin, plays a careful game to maintain control in the face of Gerbert foretelling the end of the de Clermonts – and throws Diana to the lions. But, Diana isn’t the only witch facing persecution. Satu pays a shocking price for her curiosity when Knox discovers she has been searching through the witches’ archives and learned his guilty secret. Meanwhile, things turn nasty in Oxford for Marcus and Miriam as Juliette attacks.
Gillian pays a heavy price for her disloyalty to Diana, but not before news that vampires are studying witch DNA reaches Knox. The fall-out threatens the fragile equilibrium between creatures, putting the focus on ending Matthew and Diana’s relationship - whatever the cost. Agatha treads a careful line of democracy at the Congregation, but Nathaniel continues to instigate daemon direct-action. Ysabeau relies on shock tactics to expel Diana until Matthew returns with breath-taking news about Diana’s DNA. Diana and Matthew are finally united in love, only for the unexpected to happen.
Satu brutally tortures Diana in Gerbert’s isolated castle ruins. Matthew, now sworn to hunt down and kill anyone who tries to harm Diana, attempts a daring airborne rescue mission with Baldwin in tow, but they are too late to prevent Satu invoking dark magic in a bid to open up Diana and see the magic inside her. As Diana is forced to confront the idea that she might have been spellbound, she wonders what kind of monster she is. When Sophie confesses that she is a daemon born of witches, this news of cross-species offspring leaves Agatha reeling as she ponders the implications for all their lives.
After confronting her aunts, Diana learns the tragic circumstances surrounding why she was spellbound as a child. Diana’s devastation at having lived her life as only half herself is interrupted by the Madison house releasing one of the missing pages from Ashmole 782, sent forward in time by Diana’s father Stephen, a time-walker. As their love grows, Matthew confesses to Diana that he wasn’t able to keep his two previous loves safe. Diana believes he won’t hurt her.... But an unexpected encounter threatens to tear them apart once again.
Matthew’s attempt to rescue Diana from Juliette goes horribly wrong and Diana finally discovers just how lethal her magical powers can be. As Matthew lies dying, Diana must strike a dreadful bargain with the goddess and make the ultimate sacrificial pact with enduring consequences. A failed coup at the Congregation sees its most powerful and terrifying members go rogue as they close in fast on Madison, where a group of daemons, vampires and witches are now residing together. Baldwin tries to alert Matthew that time is up, but he can’t reach him. It’s a deadly race against time for Diana to take flight with Matthew before their pursuers arrive.
Escape into a tale of forbidden love and ancient magic, set in a world where witches, vampires, and daemons live amongst us... hiding in plain sight. Based on the best-selling All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT EPISODE AND SECOND SEASON! I truly enjoyed being captivated by this fantastical plot and its characters. This is 100% LEGIT interest, honesty and truth being told. And I don’t care who knows it! The AMAZINGLY- talented (and of course breathtakingly beautiful!!!!) actors truly capture the characters of this trilogy. The extremely well-played and well-cast actors /characters of the series/trilogy, gripping storyline, well-executed cinematography, and beautiful scenery makes it sooooooo easy to fall in love with the series from the get-go! I am 100% hooked!!!!... And that’s coming from a person who would rather do anything else but watch a fictional scifi film. Check it out, you won’t regret it!

- Outstanding Show!!!5 star

I was hooked from the first episode this is the most outstanding show I have ever watched I cannot wait for season two the books are just as incredible!

- Sensational5 star

This is beautifully written and produced, it’s not cheesy like some other vampire and witch productions out there. It’s interesting and has a real story and only gets better by each episode. I could watch it again and again.

- Best TV Show Ever!5 star

We are all impatient for the next season…. though I can understand the reason why is the Heroine keeps getting pregnant. We understand & will wait as long as necessary.

- Loved!! Loved!! Loved!!5 star

It’s a really great storyline with some great twists and interesting characters. So many of the scenes were amazingly shot.

- Re watched 4 times5 star

I was able to catch this and holy mackerel I’m hooked. The show spurned me to read the books which I found followed really nicely. I have re-watched the show between getting the books. I am about to re-read the books too. Ms. Harkness can’t write book 5 fast enough me. I’m so glad I came across this show. The cast is really great!

- Amazing Adaptation5 star

I have read these books dozens of times. A true favorite. This adaptation is truly amazing, the actors catch the characters perfectly. Can not wait to see the next seasons.

- Book Vs TV5 star

The book series is fantastic. It is rich in detail, and makes you feel you are part of the characters lives. There is no way a TV series could convey that level of detail. But that is not to say the sereis is bad. It was actually very well done. I have watched it several times now on Sundanceand and have really enjoyed it. I am also planning on buying the digital version. Do I wish it could be exactly like the book? Yes of course, but I love seeing the characters brought to life on the TV screen as well. Try it without expectations and I am sure you will enjoy it and love it as much as I do.

- Wonderful!!5 star

I absolutely love this show. The tale of forbidden love, the scenery, the story line -- absolutely everything! Can't wait for Season 2

- So much better than I was expecting!5 star

I prepared myself for the worst since there’s only 8 episodes to cover an entire book...but I was pleasantly surprised! I loved it and can’t wait until seasons 2 & 3. (And I would love more books too!)

- Love the books and the Series!5 star

I fell in love with this Trilogy many years ago and have read the books countless times! I was so excited when the TV series came out! I have to say that like most series and movies based on a book, there are always going to be some cinematic and artistic differences, it’s only natural. However, the excitement, the beauty, the mystery, intrigue, drama and adventure are still there and I eagerly await season 2!!!! It’s a must watch!

- Great show!!5 star

Love this show

- Worth it!5 star

Absolutely loved it- you definitely need to watch each episode in its entirety to understand the next one. Teresa Palmer is amazing!

- Absolutely Awesome5 star

This has to be one of the better shows created in the last 5 years.

- Great books, not so great series2 star

Honestly the books are so good I knew the series would not come near my expectations. That being said, they could have honestly tried a bit harder... The final episode of the series is the one that leaves the most to be desired and it's the most important one!! The acting is terrible, the story is shortened to the point where it is hard to understand and confusing despite having read the books. No care was taken into actually developing the plot.. If they didnt have enough time or episodes to develop the whole story then end somewhere else. It seemed as though they rusehd to finish the last episode. I dont think I will be watching season 2

- Good witch5 star

Just got this the other day it’s really good so far the story is good the acting is better than I thought it would be all in all very good can’t wait till the next one comes out.

- MUCH Better than expected for AMC5 star

Would love to have had this on HBO and to have had more insight into the historical references, which are fascinating. Keeping closer to the book is always the best bet, yet have still been waiting for Sunday to come with the next installment. This is a keeper for me and I am very picky. The actors are good. The editing is not the best. 40 minutes is not enough to tell this story each week. Again, HBO or Starz should be calling. Loved the books with all the Harkness detail. She knows what she is doing, I only hope AMC allows her more control and extends your season beyond 8 episodes to tell the story.

- Different in a good way5 star

This is not your typical vampire, witches & demon show. The acting is really good in my opinion. I found this show on a whim & am happy I did ♥️

- Adequate, But Could Have Been Much Better.4 star

I love this book trilogy and recommend it to all who might be interested in this subject matter. The show could have been much, much better given how detailed and colorful the books are. Still, it is interesting to see it put to film. Still worth the price. By the way, Amazon also only releases the episodes one at a time!

- Good, but veering from the books4 star

While I am enjoying this much anticipated tv series from one of my favorite trilogies, I’m not thrilled with some major changes from the book. (Spoiler alert), the process of Diana finding out what kind of witch she is was the best part of this series and to have Satu (a minor character) be named a weaver in episode 6....not good. I was actually ok with Ysabeau’s casting (I mean Lindsay Duncan ok) and that Baldwin was way more supportive etc... But don’t rush the pace and change some of the most important narrative arcs!!

- Read the Books2 star

Like many other reviewers, this series is so boring when compared to the actual novels This is such a huge disappointment, it could've been so much better. Somehow, the managed to convince Matthew Goode to play the reluctant vampire and some of the scenic landscapes are great.

- Bait and Swtch DO NOT PURCHASE THIS1 star

The show is fun to watch. BUT, the economic model is akin to going to a carnival and throwing balls in a basket, wondering why the balls go in to the basket for the carnival worker but always fall out for you. UNLIKE OTHER ITUNES SHOWS YOU CANNOT BUY THE ENTIRE SEASON! They get you started and invested in the show by having you to unknowningly buy half a season, then they try to sucker you into purchasing a subscription. THIS IS A BAIT AND SWITCH! It is pathetic and apparently typical of the new Cooked Apple. I'll not watch shows with this model and in the future will be very careful of buying anything from Apple! Tim Cook you are wreaking apple... with a small a...

- Mathew Goode is perfect!4 star

I ve read the books and yes the show is not the same ...however Mathew Goode is so good in this role He takes your breath away ...the rest of the cast for me is not close to him .I will be curious how the second season is ...for a whlle one can forgive the "poetic License " taken have fun ... .

- Great adaptation of the book series.5 star

Some depth of plot and enjoyable acting. Watch it.

- Not Exactly What I Imagined3 star

I read and loved the All Souls Trilogy, I also bought the audio books which made the characters come even more alive. Having said that, I was deeply disappointed in some of the characters in the series. Marcus is supposed to be a surfer dude with blonde hair, jeans, tee shirts and sneakers. Ysabeau is a beautiful small French vampire with flawless skin that looks too young to be Matthew’s mother, instead we get Lindsay Duncan who was wonderful in Under the Tuscan Sun, but not so much here. I wish you had thought seriously about your readers and what they might think and feel about the the wonderful characters that are loved by us all. The trilogy is amazing, read them! And like so many Trilogy fans who will watch this series and have to erase from their minds the wonderful characters they read about. 4 in and 4 to go!

- I love it5 star

Yes the book has more details. Do I miss some of the details, yes. The TV adaptation actually removes some things I didn't like in the book, and yes has some choices that I didn't think fit the books. I get a great quick read of the books in this show. It is visually wonderful. I came to it because of Matthew Goode, but really love the whole show.

- Love the TV show5 star

Great videography and the acting is building. The Nox & weak witch characters are annoying but pilots are usually slow. I would have to say that this was better then most pilots. Definitely a fan!

- Simply in love5 star

Can’t wait for the season 2!!!! Please don’t make us wait that long!!!

- Amazing5 star

Finally a new interesting TV show that isn’t predictable. Im obsessed

- Deliciously Entertainment5 star

Not entirely true to the book but entertaining nonetheless

- Next Sci-fi hit5 star

I really loved this show. I watch the whole first season on shudder. I didn’t really expect to like it as much as I did but the show really surprised me. Great show can’t wait for the next season.

- Everything I've bin waiting for5 star

A paranormal romance noval come to life. With a very hot leading man. Finally something really steamy for adults in the paranormal tv world.

- What A FIND!!5 star

I was recommended this series actually through Facebook. Took me awhile to actually commit to trying it out.... BEST DECISION EVER! Wow the caliber of acting is stellar! The most binge worthy series I have started in a long time!! Take a shot you won’t be disappointed! I don’t usually post reviews but saw a few negative ones and couldn’t let that stand when I knew what a treasure I found! The books are amazing as well! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOW! I tell everyone about it!! Now the worst thing about this series is that Season two hasn’t been filmed yet.... Off to read the books!!!

- Fantastic5 star

It is rare when there is an adult magic/ fantasy series that is grounded in reality with adult conversation that is not comical or campy. The actors are top notch and you will enjoy watching.

After spending hours and I mean hours reading the trilogy, I couldnt wait for the TV show. I waited for over a year for this. The books were excellent! This show left a lot to be desired. I was very ecstatic to see Matthew Goode playing the role of Matthew De Clarmont and I thought he did a brilliant job. Teresa Palmer on the other hand was horrible. Her acting was mono-tone and unenthusiastic. She actually bored me thru the eight episodes. For me she was very hard to watch! What happened to Marcus? Wasn’t he a blond haired surfer dud in the books??? The actors playing the other parts were great though but I just couldnt get into this fantastic love between witch and vampire. I really hope Teresa improves in the second series because to me she was a real disappointment. To understand the greatness of this trilogy, read the books first to see what youre really missing. Yes, they used lines from the book but the story they created for TV doesn't compare...

- This show5 star

Such good writing. I’m reading the series now and can’t wait to see it play out. 💕

- Fantastic....5 star

I haven’t read the books, but after I saw the first episode, I know this show is going to be amazing..!!

- Awful1 star

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed the novel, I came to this series with high expectations. I am sorely disappointed. Very superficial. I understand the difficulty in adapting the character and plot development of a nearly 600 page novel into eight 44 minute episodes, but it appears as though high level sketches of character and plot were literally thrown together. The acting in parts was terrible. I bought the series in the US store, so only one episode has been released. Maybe future episodes will be better. If you haven’t read the book, I assure you it’s infinitely better than this series.

- A Show made for Bingeing5 star

As of the writing of this review, i have seen the preview and the first episode, and I can't hardly contain myself. If the rest of the show had been available, i would have spent my whole day watching and rewatching. As it was, i watched the first episode again because i just couldn't get enough. What happens next?!?

- Intriguing and well made show5 star

After all the vampire shows or witch shows that I have seen, this feels very real and rustic. It does have its cliched moments but still worth a watch.

- Fantastic!!!5 star

I’ve read/listened to the All Souls Trilogy multiple times and while of course some things are different it is still fantastic and sticks to the important things. Defiantly worth a watch.

- Love it!5 star

Great show, cant wait until season 2!

- Love The Witches !5 star

Amazing Show, Great Writing,Acting, Suspenseful with top notch production Values. A must see.

- Such a great show!!5 star

This show is pretty rad! It’s story line and depth is unique and sheds light on a different kind of vampire/witch/demon world!! Would definitely recommend this to anyone who loved a great adventure and romance!

- What I Have Been Waiting For5 star

If you have not read the trilogy you need to. Its also available on Audible and is the best read series I have ever heard. If the video is half as good as the books it will be fantastic.

- Loving it5 star

Love it. The story of love and magic bring two people together is must watch!!

- Awesome5 star

I recently got the first book and I thought it was extremely awesome I found a show on an app the first season and it was epic! Can’t wait for season 2!!!

- A great serie from a great trilogy5 star

I watched the series in the UK and I was very skeptical. The books are great and I was not so sure how the TV version would be. The result is extremely good, and I enjoyed every single minute.

- Great series.5 star

Watched season one in the U.k. Waiting for season 2 it’s finally in the states

- So amazing5 star

The show is simply fantastic. The acting is superb. I got lucky and watched it last year from sky blue a British stream. It’s so refreshing to see a show not hindered by American nonsense. You are all in for a treat.

BTR Newbie - New twist5 star

Love it 😍 great and interesting new yet traditional twist on the supernatural. Counting down the days until the next season and will definitely be purchasing the books❣️will be interesting to compare tv series to book series. The only thing I didn’t like was how Diana treats her aunt most of the time.

chellsie ann - So good!5 star

So close to the book.

Jingleheart - Amazing5 star

I read the books and this is amazing. Mathew Goode and Teresa Palmer bring their characters to life. Fantastic job.

Victarionk - Interesting story & great world building5 star

I need season 2 ASAP!! Maybe I’ll read the book. I’m glad ADOW exists! Im desperate for new shows now that all my A-list shows are ending. What will happen next with Matthew & Diana?! I expected him to be left behind. They were setting that up, in a traditional drama it’d happen. I was spoiled by ADOW’s official twitter...another viewer/book reader mentioned they’re both in the 14 or 1500s. I NEED TO KNOW. I WANNA READ BUT I LOVE NOT KNOWING!

Karamia54 - Outstanding5 star

A must watch. Extremely well done.

Scott Harkes - Excellent5 star

Follows the books mostly with some creative changes. I agree though that whole series should be released at once as I bought the whole series upfront. Well done to the cast and crew. Deborah Harkness should be proud.

naidinovski - Missing Episodes5 star

Good show but why aren’t the other episodes available yet? I agree with the other reviews.

The colour palettes for this show is amazing. Everything is filmed beautifully. The actors are great, and I’m so excited to watch the rest of the season

Maetia - Why?5 star

The show seems great but I'd just like to know why the episodes are not available yet in Canada while the season is over since january 2019 and available in the us store

One of my favourite shows!! Matthew Goode makes a great vampire! Can’t wait for seasons 2 and 3
