Danny McBride stars as Jesse Gemstone, the eldest of three grown Gemstone children, who receives a blackmail video that could put his reputation at risk. Getting caught up in the hunt for the culprits are Jesse's siblings Judy (Edi Patterson) and Kelvin (Adam Devine). Meanwhile, the family's patriarch, Eli (John Goodman), finds himself in a point of crisis as he mourns the loss of his wife and questions whether the family is still serving a higher power.

One Of The Funniest Shows I’ve Ever SeenAesthetically, The Righteous Gemstones has the inner workings of an organized crime saga helmed by the Coen brothers. It’s about as perfect as a dark comedy can get. What could have just been an excuse and full-fledged assault to bash religion and people of faith (I would’ve been just fine with that), it isn’t. At all. Danny McBride has The Righteous Gemstones operating on a completely different level. He has become such an advanced series writer and has actually gone above and beyond to elevate and humanize The Gemstone family and their televangelist empire. What seems at first as just a greedy con-artist family that we the audience can absolutely detest, is by the end of the season, an ensemble of characters that we actually care about, along with their televangelist empire. Because as cynical as some of the characters may be, the show itself, is not. It’s quite amazing..Score: 5/5
