One Minor DisappointmentWhile B5 is one of the finest works of science fiction ever produced, I was slightly disappointed with the removal of at least 3 scenes from the pilot episode (I have a copy I videotaped when it first aired). While the scenes weren't vital to the story line, it created some interesting background for the rest of the series, and I saw no valid reason to remove them. My copy was presented in it's origional full screen format, and was not "cropped" at the top and bottom as was stated by someone else (and the Psi Corps commercial mentioned isn't even in the first season)..Score: 3/5
Great Show for SciFi fans.If you enjoy reading novels and like political intrigue, then Babylon 5 is the show for you. Excellent F/X, good acting, decent writing combine in Babylon 5 to produce one of SciFi's favorite shows. More complex than Star Trek and more thoughtful than Star Wars, Babylon 5 satisfies the thinking viewer with a well thought out and detailed creation. If you've subscribed to "Analog", "Asimov's Science Fiction", or the Science Fiction Book Club - Babylon 5 brings that type of complex story to life. An enjoyable show, but some times too much exposition. You can only fit so much plot into an episode - so some things just have to be explained and talked about for the viewer's benefit. But, if you like fast paced, more action then talk adventures - "Andromeda" is more in line with what you want to buy..Score: 4/5

One of the best space operas everFrom start to finish B5 is a story, And a marvelous one at that. It has it all: wonder, love, passion, betrayal, revenge, and redemption. Season one is a bit slow, but it's all setup. You meet the players with their relationships and motives. All of which can change over time, as the players change over time. You catch hints of the main story arc in season one. But season 2 the main story arc really begins. And it's a not a slap in your face.. it's subtle at first. And various sub-plots to keep you busy. You will love certain players and hate others. But that's what a good opera does. Ok since it's the 90's the CGI is poor by todays standards. But B5 isn't about that.. this is about the story. It's the story that stands the test of time. Watch. Watch it all, in order from season one to season five. And you won't regret it..Score: 5/5

One of the greatest Sci-Fi shows EVER!B5 is not an easy series for a casual viewer to get into. To really understand it, you need to watch it right from the 1st episode, and stick with it. Something that is said as a casual remark in one episode, can have major consequences down the line. Characters that pop up only once or twice can be pivotal to the main story-arc. The story writing is great - JMS weaves his intricate story line around his fantastic cast of characters, who all have their faults, and are more real than characters on other Sci-Fi shows. There are a few duff episodes, which is to be expected in any series, but the vast majorty are excellent. After cramming in the 4th and 5th season into season 4 (as they were expecting to get cancelled), the main Shadow War story came to an end, and season 5 although still good, wasn't as great as the previous seasons, although I defy anyone who follows this, not to be moved by the final episode of season 5 "Sleeping in Light". Buy it, watch it, stick with it, and you will surely be rewarded!!!.Score: 5/5

However , for those customers that purchased the series in SD prior to the upgrade, they are expected to pay the full price all over again???? Warner Bros needs to remaster this!Warner Bros needs to remaster this series in HD. I know the logistics are apparently costly but the series needs to be brought up to HD standard and I think Warner would, in the long run benefit from such an investment. From what I’ve read the original negatives are still available. This show was unique and deserves a bit of care in order to attract another generation..Score: 3/5

BrilliantI missed this series when it was first around, and on the recomendation of several people started buying episodes on itunes. Its not so much of a sci-fi as a political drama in space, complete with a riveting story arc and a whole host of absorbing characters. There are misfires such as 'infection' but is still enjoyable to watch. Cannot wait to watch the other series, as they are reputed to be better than this one. Put the rest on itunes!.Score: 4/5
