360p dismal video qualityI love Doctor Who, especially this season. But the iTunes video quality here appears to be the same old rendering several years ago when Doctor Who first appeared on iTunes, including fuzzy resolution, jagged edges, etc. I know this wasn't shot in HD, so I don't expect a miracle, but I have seen these episodes in higher resolution on other platforms, so it's disappointing not to have the same quality here. In fact, these files are only 640x360. Is 480p too much to ask for?.Score: 1/5

Probably the best Doctor/Companion combination everDon't get me wrong. Every series (season) is good. But this one holds a special place in my heart because the relationship between the Doctor and Donna did not suffer from the same faults as previous years. In series 1, Rose was a bit annoying at times, and although I adored Eccleston as the Doctor, Rose seemed to weigh him down a bit, and Mickey and Jackie were a bit too goofy. In series 2, Rose became too dependent on the Doctor and things got a little too soap opera-ish (though still effective and incredibly heart-breaking). I liked that the Doctor, in series 3, did not fall in love with Martha, though I hated the lovesick puppy that she became. But Donna? She is strong, sarcastic, funny, and best of all, her own woman. She is the Doctor's best friend and counterpart, not his main squeeze, and I simply adore that. Paired with David Tennant's range and passion, it was absolutely brilliant. Some of the best episodes are found in series 4... Silence in the Library, Forest of the Dead, Turn Left, and of course, Blink. The best aliens, too: the Adipose, the weeping angels, the Sontarans (though I do miss the Slitheen, if only to hear "Raxacoricofallapatorious" again). And then there's River Song. Ooooh, boy, do I love to hate her! She's an absolutely fascinating character, but always felt like bad news to me. The only problem is that the series' end (as shown here on iTunes*) is a bit weak. Russell T Davies likes to bring previous characters back, almost like a family reunion, and give them New Important Roles (tm)... I guess to drive home the idea that the Doctor makes people strive to be better. It just seems soooo forced. I could have done without that. (*Note: iTunes lists only the above episodes as series 4, but the five David Tennant specials... which aired the year after series 4 and before the start of series 5... should really be included as well. The End of Time parts 1 and 2 are the actual conclusion to the 10th Doctor/Donna story, so make sure not to skip those before plunging into series 5.).Score: 5/5

Some of my favourites are The doctors daughter because you see a whole new side of the doctor, Silence in the library and forest of the dead, for its intense and almost confusing plot, that works out in the end, and the finale The stolen earth and journeys end, for the excitement and crazyiness a finale needs. Rose was a forgetable blonde bimbo and Martha had no range. Donna could at least work both ends of the spectrum, she could be comedic when she had to be and heart wrenching dramatic when she had to be as well. Although the season had a rough start in some ways the episode got better and better, with Steven Moffatts Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead being especially well done. And of course there is Midnight, the episode that surprised most of us. Unfortunetly the season took a 'left turn' and got progressively worse with the last two episodes being the most muddled and confusing season enders I've seen for quite some time. Well....its not that great....Well, Im not being funny but this series seriously dissapointed me. Some of the episodes are pretty good such as The Fires of Pompeii, Planet of the Ood and i did enjoy The Unicorn and the Wasp. Oh and the final 3 episodes were pure genius. However, this series was seriously let down by a few episodes such as Partners in Crime, and The Doctors Daughter, which to be honest were slightly pathetic in the story lines. The walking fat thing let down the begginning of the series completly, as im sure people would agree that all doctor whos need a bit of an explosive start (which were achived in the last 3 series). But i will not complain too much about the doctors daughter becuase Joe Dempsie was in it! (Even though he played a bit of a pathetic part since we already know hes incredible.) This series let me down I think becuase it was lacking scare factor. In series 1, Christopher Eccelson combined with Billie Piper did make for a pretty scary atmosphere, then in the next series David Tennant certainly lifted the mood a little becuase he was funny, but yet could switch the atmosphere when needed. However, I think that this series was let down, by Catherine Tate, because she, along with David Tennant sapped all of the scariness about the series out into just plain funny, which I suppose is some peoples cup of tea but I was a little dissapointed. Also, I do not think the two of them gelled as well as the last 3 couples. Although I will always say that the best pair were Tennant and Piper no danger. I was slightly let down by the end of the series as well. Becuase its sort of like, where does it go from here? There is now no reason for any of the original 3 sidekicks to return, and, now David Tennant is leaving, Im not surre series 5 will please me as much. Mainly becuase they will replace both Doctor and sidekick, whereas before it was just one or the other which means sort of a new era of doctor who which could potentially, in my eyes, make or break the series..Score: 2/5

Series 4 of Doctor WhoInitially I was a bit skittish when Catherine Tate returned as Donna Noble because I wondered whether she could hold her own as a truly dramatic heroine opposite many people's favourite Doctor. Yet, for me, Donna Noble is the most endearing heroine sofar in the series: one of life's girl-next-door underdogs made good as she journeys to save the universe from the resurgent Daleks before being tragically forced to forget how great she truly was. The twist at the end was the most poignant denouement. After the heart-breaking unrequited love of Donna's predecessor, Dr. Martha Jones, it was a relief to unburden the show of all that romance stuff and just have two mates on a jolly good romp in time and space. Yet the returning characters in this series made for a terrific ensemble cast and great continuity throughout the story with the previous seasons. It was phenomenal to see so many familiar faces return by the finale to make it feel like a truly inclusive Doctor Who family. Catherine Tate was really able to lighten the mood occasionally in amongst the drama and emotion. This was a new reintroduction to the show of the Sontarans; Steven Moffat made us afraid of shadows this time; and we got to see the Tenth Doctor stuggling once again to gain the approval of his friend's mother! This series played nicely on the legend of Pompeii's disaster and the mystery surrounding Agatha Christie. My only real quibble was with the graphics in the finale: a bit flimsy! The show has done better in the new series, but you can't have everything..Score: 5/5

How marvellous! There was a lot of doubt from followers of Doctor Who about Catherine Tate joining the team. Images of Lauren Cooper (Am I bovvered?) obviously plagued their thoughts and a mouthy Donna in The Runaway Bride seemed too much of a likeness to many characters in Tate's sketch show. However, Catherine could not have done a more marvellous job. Donna is a superb character and her slighty-rough-around-the-edges wit bounces off the Doctor's playfulness perfectly. The chemistry between Tate's comicalness and Tennant's intensity sparkles throughout the series and there is never a dull moment between them. Although bringing back the main cast from the past three series into the last three episodes wasn't the best idea, the finale is definitely epic, with a little something to please every shipper. Out of the list below, the only episodes I didn't enjoy as much were Voyage of the Damned and The Doctor's Daughter. In both the Doctor's relationships with the main characters developed far too quickly and weren't entirely believable. For something fun and light-hearted I'd recommend The Unicorn and the Wasp and for something dark and intense I would highly recommend Midnight, my favourite episode of this series. (Például: "Visszatér...", "Van valami a hátán", "A dal véget ér" stb.) Ezek végigszelték az egész évadot, míg csak a záróepizódban és a "The End of Time" című különkiadásban (filmben) kaptunk rá magyarázatot.
