In Season One, Cal heads up a private agency contracted by the FBI, local police, law firms, corporations, and private individuals when they hit roadblocks in their searches for the truth. Joining him are a variety of experts in the field of behavioral evaluation: Dr. Gillian Foster is a gifted psychologist and Cal's professional partner, a woman whose guidance Cal needs, whether he knows it or not; Will Loker is Cal's lead researcher, and he is so aware of the human tendency to lie that he has decided to uncomplicate matters and practice what he terms "radical honesty:" he says everything on his mind at all times. Ria Torres, the newest member of the team, arrives at the truth differently by acting more on instinct and using her natural, less-studied ability to read body language and catch certain clues that Cal's other pledges may miss. Lie to Me probes how people can deceive themselves just as easily as they deceive others, and explores the idea that there is nothing more revealing than when we choose to tell the truth and when we decide to lie.

Tim Roth Rocks in this showWithout Tim Roth this show would be average. With him, it is extremely entertaining, smart, witty and fun to watch. I enjoy the science behind the show and especially enjoy various "explanations" on how the science works. Entertaining and fascinatingI saw this show when I was staying with a friend in the US, got hooked, and have been waiting for it to arrive here ever since. Each episode has its own stories, twists, surprises, and has the added bonus of also being a self-contained lesson in body language. You could watch this series just for the characters and the stories contained in each episode, but the clarity with which they reveal the hidden language of human beings and how we all display our emotions whether we like it or not, makes this show truly fascinating. You will never look at the people around you in the same way again....Score: 5/5

Pure BrillianceI saw the advertisements for Lie To Me on Sky 1, but soon realised I had missed the first 3 episodes, which saddened me as I thought it looked quite good. Then I saw Sky 1 were running a back to back catch-up of the first 3 episodes! I watched them, and I've found it compulsive viewing ever since. Tim Roth is amazing! DĂ©jĂ vu...Take a very good British actor, make sure he's ill-shaven and scruffy, surround him with 'beautiful people' and write a series based on the premise that everybody lies. Ring a bell? Remind you of a misanthropic doctor by any chance? It's a shame that Roth leant his undeniable talent to what really is a poor take on House which, admittedly, is getting long in the tooth and showing signs of age. Lie to Me has little in the way of acerbic dialogue and even humour (Roth's talent does not lie in that direction). The other characters have little going for them other than their appearance and the whole 'body language' thing is a poor substitute for drama and makes a poor vehicle for a story line. Don't bother watching this if you're a House fan. It doesn't bear the comparison very well. As a run-of-the-mill US crime series, well, there are worse ways of spending time..Score: 2/5
