Dollhouse, Season 1 Release Date and Synopsis

In the highly anticipated first season of Dollhouse, Echo (Eliza Dushku) is an “Active,” a member of a highly illegal and underground group who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas. Confined to a secret facility known as the “Dollhouse,” Echo and the other Actives including Sierra and Victor carry out engagements assigned by Adelle, one of the Dollhouse leaders. The engagements cater to the wealthy, powerful, and connected, and require the Actives to immerse themselves in all manner of scenarios — romantic, criminal, uplifting, dangerous, comical, and the occasional “pro bono” good deed. After each scenario, Echo, always under the watchful eye of her handler Boyd, returns to the mysterious Dollhouse where her thoughts, feelings, and experiences are erased by Topher, the Dollhouse’s genius programmer. Echo enters the next scenario with no memory of before. Or does she?

I was actually very impressed. The casting, dialog, and environment make a show that is entertaining and interesting while introducing multiple social issues related to the Dollhouse reality. It's a story of people who have their minds blanked because they were unable to cope with memories or problems in their life for a contracted time and then have their lives restored in extreme comfort. During this time they have their minds repeatedly wiped clean and imprinted with different personalities created for their engagements. Best Show!I love this. Dollhouse is one of the best television shows to air in a long time. Why? Because it's not another crime drama or medical drama. Seriously think for a moment....name a show that isn't crime related or medically related. Now make sure your choice isn't a reality show! Can you think of one? No? Not a single show that is not crime or medical based and is not a reality show? I can think of two: Heroes and Ghost Whisperer. Now ghost whisperer treads on the boundry between the afore mentioned category and the rare "not-one-of-them" category, as people are sometimes murdered and would like others to know. But I think its sad that primetime television is composed of the same stuff. Take the exceedingly large crime drama as an example. Name one that isn't like CSI or it's spinoffs. They all end up similar. Mentalist is different because Jane's an a*s and he solves it by observing. Big woop. Lots of people are a*ses. Numb3rs...Charlie uses math to solve crimes. NCIS...they only solve marine-related crimes. Criminal minds...they try to understand the killers. Honestly, it all runs together. Medical Drama time! House is different because House is an a*s, like Jane. Again, big woop. ER...the mostly patient-based but filled with relationship drama show. Grey's Anatomy...filled with relationship drama..as is Private Practice. Scrubs..is funny. Now, I said I could only think of two that barely fit into anything. That may have been a bit of a fib. The funny Chuck is a show that borderlines the "not-one-of-them" category and the category that everything seems to fall in. It's about spies who stop the bad guys. Fringe is more about stopping the bad guys from doing experiments on us but still...borderline. My point? Dolhouse is one of those rare exceptions of Prime Time television. I couldn't believe the show was that great! It was far beyond what I had hoped for and I'm happy to see it's not one of those that tries to fit in with the rest. It's different and Joss should be proud that his show isn't blended in with the rest of Prime Time television..Score: 5/5
