Each 60-minute episode of Hoarders is a fascinating look inside the lives of two people whose inability to part with their belongings is so out of control that they are on the verge of a personal crisis. Whether they’re facing eviction, the loss of their children, jail time, or divorce, these compulsive hoarders are desperately in need of help. In fly-on-the-wall style, AE is there to document the drama as experts work to put each on the road to recovery. But cleaning is just the first step, and healing is not guaranteed. For some, throwing away even the tiniest possession – a sponge, a button, an empty box – is so painful that they won’t be able to complete the cleaning process...no matter the consequences. For others, professional help and an organizer’s guidance give them the strength to recover. At the end of each episode find out who has been able to keep their hoarding behavior at bay and who, despite help, is still lost inside this painful disease.
The Emmy-nominated and Critics Choice Television Award-winning series Hoarders explores the world of extreme hoarding and provides an in-depth look at real-life stories of those directly affected by compulsive hoarding. Viewers are introduced to individuals from across the country as a team of experts try to help clean out their massive hoards and help to set these individuals up for future success. Psychologists Dr. Robin Zasio and Dr. David Tolin work in tandem to extreme clean up experts Matt Paxton, Cory Chalmers, Dorothy Breininger and new expert Brandon Bronaugh in an effort to help these families deal with a hoarding crisis of epic magnitude.

A Mental Illness ExposedCompulsive shopping & hoarding are two addictions that go hand in hand. A&E has shed a light on these crippling behaviors in their new show "Hoarders". Each 60 minute show examines the destructivess that hoarding has done to a person/family and the intervention that is so desperately needed. Unlike the show "Clean House", there are no yard sales, or humor. "Hoarders" tackles these addictions with professional organizers & psychologists who try their best to offer some type of help/healing to the hoarders/compulsive shoppers. Sometimes the addiction is so overwhelming, there are no positive outcomes. This show is a must see into the world of this oft-neglected mental illness..Score: 5/5
One episode and I'm already addicted!Plus, I am motivated to clean my house and de-clutter like never before. My place is practically sparkling.Score: 5/5
Pretty good as far as Reality TV goes.I wish that all the reviews on here weren't written by the A&E marketing department because this actually is a very interesting show that doesn't favor the many reality show clichés we're used to. Though it has slick A&E production values, the show has an indie doc aesthetic to it as well. However, It does tend to favor the melodramatic. Worth your time..Score: 4/5
RivetingI can't stop watching this series- the show gets it just right and the only thing I would change is to make the episodes longer! Each hoarder has a different story but in the end they all act almost the same, though it is sad in that they never show any of them even start to recover. It is fascinating to see people so absorbed in their junk that they would rather lose everyone around them than give it up- pure addicts. This is an amazing cleaning motivator and after watching each one I find myself making a trip to the salvation army (to drop stuff off of course) and vacuuming the house..Score: 5/5

Hoarders is ADDICTINGThis is an amazing show, I can (in one sitting) get away with watching a whole season, watching the episodes back to back. This may be a bit of a sick obsession of the show, but in the long run, this show is designed to help hoarders around the world. Many people think that these people are slobs or are too lazy to clean up after themselves, but that's not at all true. Hoarders are people who find it get difficult to get rid of things that may seem like trash to other people. Being a hoarder means you have a mental illness of some kind, and if you haven't learned that, then you clearly haven't been paying attention to the show..Score: 5/5
