It gets better!I wasn't too crazy about the 'new' V. I used to be a big fan of the original V. But if you watch the show, without comparing and just see it as another invasion-type series, it is good in it's own way. I especially like Laura Vandervoort. I don't understand why season 2 episodes can't be bought. Even on the V website, they don't even allow you to watch an episode you may have missed. Big disappointmentI'll start with Episode 5 - a narrated re-cap of the first 4 episodes and nothing else. WHAT?!? Now I'm not a Yank basher by any means, but surely America (or even Hollywood) isn't so stupid that it needs reminding of what's just happened? it's despicably patronising. Anyhoo, the rest of the series would be OK if it wasn't for the appalling scripting - naive, cheesy as hell and lacking any originality. The acting's not a great deal better with a couple of glaring casting mistakes. This could have been a great remake of a great series, but it's failed dismally. Can't believe I bought a series pass and have to download a whole bunch more episodes. Really not worth it..Score: 1/5

Ok, but...Not a bad remake. Not particularly deep either. The original was always a directionless and patchy affair. This reload fairs well in comparison. However, I agree with others on here: Don't buy episode 5! It's just a recap. It's insulting that they were allowed to publish this episode without describing it as a recap. An indication perhaps of how little they think of their audience? Can someone please tell these people some of us have to go to work to earn our money?! This series is worth a look if you're a sci-fi geek. Let’s hope it goes somewhere other than the middle of the road..Score: 3/5

InterestingFirst of all, ignore all those people telling you not to buy episode 5. If you do that and buy the other 12 episodes individually, you will be spending £29.88, instead of £22.99 for the whole series. Secondly, I am extremely annoyed that iTunes are not upfront about how many episodes I am getting for my money when buying a series like this. I was expecting around 20+ episodes as most American TV series' have, yet I only got 12 (as episode 5 is a "catch-up special"). This is the last time I buy a brand new TV Show from iTunes. The series itself is also available on SyFy HD, so if you have cable/satellite, buying this on iTunes makes no sense. The Blu-ray release is not until October 2010 and will cost around £30. The series itself is okay. The special effects are great in some places, and slightly weak and cheap looking in others. The plot is full of holes and gaping flaws - you'd think the V spaceships would have security cameras in every room and corridor (given the other places they have cameras, which I won't spoil for you); and you may start to wonder why the V's speak to each other in English all the time, even when there are no humans present. They also play all the same tricks as other American TV Shows do at the moment - constant but rather clumsy misdirection about certain characters or events, only to confound you at the end of the episode. After watching DEsperate Housewives, Lost, True Blood, etc. it all gets rather easy to spot. Finally, the series ends on a cliffhanger to make a second season inevitable (but which won't be released until mid 2011!). Compared to the original series, I would say this is a bit of a let down - the key reveal about the visitors is given away really early and not in the shocking and suspenseful way the original series did it. The sci-fi is not that great either - this is "sci-fi lite": principally a thriller/drama with the sci-fi is largely incidental to the story. What you do see of visitor technology and weaponry is extremely weak, cheap-looking and never explained, so sci-fi geeks will definitely be left wanting..Score: 3/5
EP 5 RIP-OFFI've never felt moved to write a bad review, let alone any review, but this is ridiculous. "Episode 5" is such a rip-off. I wish I saw the reviews. It is not iTunes' fault that I didn't look before I leapt, but damn I still want to think it's deceiving. Life goes on..Score: 1/5
