On the vibrant world of Caprica, in a culture close to our own, two dynamic families — the Graystones and the Adamas — live separately on opposite ends of society until brought together by tragedy. Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz), a computer engineering genius, is spearheading the development of artificial intelligence. Tragedy strikes him and his wife Amanda (Paula Malcomson) when their daughter Zoe (Alessandra Torresani) dies in a terrorist bombing. Also living on Caprica, deeply entrenched in a cultural heritage apart from the rest of civilization, is the Adama clan. The family is helmed by Joseph Adama (Esai Morales), a renowned criminal defense attorney, and father to William (Sina Najafi) and Tamara (Genevieve Beuchner). When Joseph’s wife and daughter perish in the same attack that befell Zoe Graystone, Joseph’s path soon crosses Daniel’s as they unite in grief. Daniel has discovered that Zoe, a computer genius in her own right, had managed to create a life-like avatar of herself, a perfect digital copy. Obsessed with the possibility of seeing his daughter again, Daniel implores Joseph to help him make Zoe’s vision a complete — and the fate of the human race is altered forever . . .
Set 58 years before Battlestar Galactica, Caprica follows two rival families - the Graystones and the Adamas - as they grow, compete, and thrive in the vibrant world of the peaceful 12 Colonies, living in a society close to our own. He and his wife Amanda, who's a brilliant surgeon, are both relentless in their scientific pursuits. The Adama clan is helmed by Joseph Adama, a renowned criminal defense attorney and father of future Battlestar commander William Adama. When tragedy strikes both families, lines are drawn that will determine the fate of the human race.

One of the best sci-fi shows EVER!!Caprica, Dollhouse, SGU are all very ultra-intelligent, science-based quality examples of how good Sci-Fi can be when you give it half a chance...but that chance needs to be more than 2 seasons long (same thing almost killed Fringe this year after 4 seasons with Fox. It made it longer than most because it is actually on network TV, but it was the same principle). Caprica is part of the Galactica Universe and in-fact gives us geeks one of our most precious plot lines...The Origin story. Every great Science Fiction tale leaves it's audience wondering how things got from here to there ("Star Wars", "Planet of the Apes", "Terminator", etc.). And Caprica delivered!!! There was so much more mythology to explore, yet because complicated storylines need time to build when done correctly, they usually don't make it because we live in this fast-food, self-serve, express lane, "vote them off the island" era. Remember "Quality takes time", "Wine gets better with age", "Good things come to those who wait". Caprica is a great show and it's sad to think that it was just getting started. Don't take my word for it, cough up $3 and check out the pilot. see if you don't agree..Score: 5/5

Too few episodes!!They've going to kill this show by airing too few episodes at a time. Just when you start to get excited about seeing it, they stop airing it. Soon your emain experience of the show is that it's constantly disappointing -- even though you like the episodes -- because the disappointment is that it keeps jerking you around by disappearing for months on end. Personally, I'm about to give up on it. Great cast, great writers, great concept... What a shame!.Score: 1/5
Just so soI was an uber BSG fan. Thought the show was incredible. Had high hopes for this one after the pilot. I think the pilot is really all you need, unfortunately. The show is leaving me cold--mostly cuz I have no one to root for. Also, it's often boring. Beautifully filmed, cool special effects, lovely music. But characters I don't like and a story that moves slowly, makes little sense, and has virtually no relationship to the series I adored (despite being a prequel). Too bad. Had such promise. I doubt I'll renew my season pass for next season..Score: 2/5
Cancelled for a reason (or several)I come from the die-hard BSG fanbase, so when news of "Caprica" arrived I was thrilled. The pilot was enough to get my hopes up for a continuation of the BSG legacy. Unfortunately, Caprica lacks almost every quality that made its predecessor so captivating. Initially excitement propelled me through the first few episodes, but the lack of interesting, complex characters -or even a marginally gripping plotline- soon took me back to reality. The reality was bleak. . . not even early Cylons lore or a young Bill Adama give this show a lift. Instead of suspenseful, compelling story, and multifaceted characters we care about, we get mostly shallow and overdramatic characters with a hefty sprinkling of "alternative lifestyle" scenes. Where BSG had a momentum, Caprica is listless. Other than maybe Joseph Adama, no one else give us a reason to care one way or another - about their religion, their beliefs, their secrets, their losses, or even their existance on Caprica. . . This is a sad descent from the great heights BSG achieved. It could have been great, but too many distractions, miscast actors, and the constant delays in the episodes were too much - it overpromises and underdelivers. TLDR: A few small glimpses into Cylon origins on Caprica and some things BSG fans might like, but nothing substantive. Lots of situations, but no stories..Score: 3/5
CAPRICA OH CAPRICAGreat show and acting. I just bought the whole season. too bad SyFy didnt give it a chance. If you are a fan of great acting / drama and Battlestar Galactica, this is a must have for the collection..Score: 5/5
Caprica & the download dilemmaIf indeed Caprica is cancelled, I wonder if Syfy will ever divulge the ratio of its broadcast viewership to its iTunes viewership. If 500,000 people download episodes, that's close to $1 million of gross sales revenue per episode just for downloads alone (of which Apple must take a large cut, but still...). If the per episode price was raised to $5, would that provide enough revenue to keep producing the series, or is marginal profitibility insufficient? One would think it would be a good investment in Syfy's long-term brand equity, rather than just focus on short-term profits from wrestling and Ghost Hunters....Score: 4/5
