In the far northern reaches of the planet a rare breed of extreme Fishermen still ply the Bering Sea. Adventure is their call, crab is their prey, and a one hundred million dollar plunder is their reward. Five skippers and their crews will endure boat killing storms and mind numbing working conditions — risking it all on the hunt for crab. In the end, they will all come to the realization that the most violent storms come from within. This season, there's a fracture in the Bering Sea brotherhood. Old allies become mortal enemies when fishing turns personal. While some skippers rage against each other — another skipper fights a lone battle to stay alive. The Bering Sea has a way of turning young boys into hardened men and before this season is through, terrible tragedy will alter two young lives forever.

Empty throne - RIP PhilThe last two episodes of series six are really gutwrenching... How short life is and what a mess we make of the short time we have! "Real" Reality Television at its BestIn general, I'm not a fan of reality television programs, but Deadliest Catch is one of the exceptions. The program is honest, unscripted, and very candid. Neither producers, directors, nor audience has the ability to manipulate the course of events that take place on these crabbing boats. And that's what makes it real. My hat is off to all of the men who serve on these boats, from the captains down to the lowliest green-horn deckhands. They give it all they've got; and when there is nothing left, they give a little more. Truly a very rare breed. Rest in Peace Captain Phil..Score: 5/5
DignityJosh & Jake, we are now sharing in your most tradgic days on earth. I know it fails to explain my thoughts, the only words I have are "sorry". Discovery channel, what an awesome display of dignity; for the Harris boys, for the CM crew, and for the fleet. I watched most of one of the memorial gatherings for Captain Phil. At that time, Discovery wasn't sure how or if they were going to be allowed to show Phil's story. Discovery has shown us in factual detail the harness of the Bearing Sea, without any dramatic hype or sensationalism..Score: 5/5
Love the new opening sequenceI'm a fisherman who works on a longline fishing vessel in Hawaii I skipper a boats in Oregon and Hawaii. I've worked on deck for 10 years on longliners,dungy crab,brown and red king crab, albacore and ahi tuna boats. I love this show. Alot of fisherman like this show, the opening sequence of the new season is awsome! I wrote this review so I could call out this crane style person! Your review is wack! Do you know how many rules and regs there are to make sure we protect our oceans?! We use sustainable fishing practices to make sure we don't over fish an area! NOAA had observers on F/V to make sure of that!! So next time you wanna call out a whole fishing fleet do your god damned reaserch first!! Keep up the good work guys! Captain Phil:Captain Phil you will be missed. I found out about you when I got out of the hospital myself having a mechanical valve put into my heart. I died twice on the table and almost in the I.C.U. I would have left behind three daughters and fifteen grandchildren. The good Lord will watch over your two sons as will America. I would have gladly changed places with you if I could have but it is not up to us but the good lord when and where we go. I will always say a prayer for you and your family as we both valued our families more over everything else. Great series but what about season 5?This is the most dramatic reality series on TV. I bought the first 4 seasons of this series but season 4 was split into vol. 4&5 so season 5 is unavailable. I hope this changes soon. Some people are complaining about the coverage of Capt. Phil's death. He wanted it to be shown and said "Every good story needs an ending." Much respect !!!.Score: 5/5
For those who found Cain and Abel wanting ReadI'm not suprised they didn't show his death. As with anyone you want to remember their life not their death. What i would have like to see is the reaction of the fleet to the news of his death. For those of us who have watched the show for years and couln't make it to any memorial service this show was what i had hoped to be a substitute and i think many others were hoping for the same. Online you can find bits and pieces of clips on the website that aren't in the Cain and Abel episode but the majority left me wanting. Maybe we should wait till next week and see if they listend and actually cover the after as this last one covered the before. It even says so in the story summary..Score: 4/5
