Doctor Who, Season 6, Pt. 1 poster

"The Doctor" returns, alongside newlyweds Amy and Rory, to face monsters and mysteries and adventures all across time and space. Together they’ll find themselves in sixties America, battling the invasion the world forgot, then journey on the high seas of 1696 aboard a pirate ship, to solve the mystery of the Siren. In a bubble universe at the very edge of reality, the Doctor will meet an old friend with a new face, and in a monastery on a remote island in the near future, an industrial accident will take on a terrible human shape. And waiting for them, at the end of all this, is the battle of Demon’s Run, and the Doctor’s darkest hour. Can even the truth about River Song save the Time Lord’s soul? Doctor Who, Season 6, Pt. 1 Wiki

Doctor Who, Season 6, Pt. 1 Synopsis

1 - The Impossible Astronaut
Four envelopes, numbered 2, 3 and 4, each containing a date, time and map reference, unsigned, but TARDIS blue. Who sent them? And who received the missing number one? This strange summons reunites the Doctor, Amy, Rory and River Song in the middle of the Utah desert and unveils a terrible secret the Doctor's friends must never reveal to him. Placing his life entirely in their hands, the Doctor agrees to search for the recipient of the fourth envelope - just who is Canton Everett Delaware the Third? And what is the relevance of their only other clue: 'Space 1969'? Their quest lands them - quite literally - in the Oval Office, where they are enlisted by President Nixon himself to assist enigmatic former-FBI agent Canton, in saving a terrified little girl from a mysterious spaceman.

2 - Day of the Moon
The Doctor is locked in the perfect prison. Amy, Rory and River Song are being hunted down across America by the FBI. With the help of new friend and FBI-insider, Canton Everett Delaware the Third, our heroes are reunited to share their discoveries, if not their memories. For the world is occupied by an alien force who control humanity through post-hypnotic suggestion and no one can be trusted. Aided by President Nixon and Neil Armstrong's foot, the Doctor must mount a revolution to drive out the enemy and rescue the missing little girl. No-one knows why they took her. Or why they have kidnapped Amy Pond...

3 - The Curse of the Black Spot
The TARDIS is marooned onboard a seventeenth-century pirate-ship whose crew are being lured to their death by a beautiful Siren. When the Captain’s son is taken, the implacable pirate must place his life in the Doctor's hands and with him, take an extraordinary leap of faith.

4 - The Doctor's Wife
The Doctor follows a Time Lord distress signal to a mysterious asteroid in a Bubble Universe - could there really be another living Time Lord out there?  But the asteroid hides a secret which could threaten the existence not only of the TARDIS crew, but of the TARDIS itself.

5 - The Rebel Flesh
A solar tsunami sends the TARDIS hurtling towards a factory on earth where human doppelgangers are used to mine dangerous acid. A second wave hits and the 'Gangers' separate. Can the Doctor prevent an all out civil war between the humans and the 'almost people' before the factory explodes?

6 - The Almost People
As the solar storm rages and the factory crumbles, a Ganger driven mad by the memories of being 'decommissioned' is seeking revenge. The Doctor must convince the terrified factory workers to embrace their own humanity and work together with their Gangers to overcome a monster of their own making.

7 - A Good Man Goes to War
The Doctor needs an army by his side. As he calls in all his debts across the cosmos, his enemies use his closest friends to trap him. Today will mark the Battle of Demons Run. Both sides will make their sacrifices - and River Song has something to tell the Doctor...

Wow, I wasn't sure what to expect going in to this show, but Matt Smith is absolutely brilliant, and the rest of the cast is perfect, especially River. This may be the best season of a TV show I've ever seen.

Best Show Ever!!!!!  Valanta'la'ma'na'ma'nisha  5 star

Don't Rate Low because of iTunes  viiixi25  5 star

If you have an issue with your season pass, send an email to iTunes support. Do NOT rank the show lower… the customer ratings affect the SHOW not iTunes. Oi!

Amazing  Ginali373  5 star

Matt smith delivers the doctor in such a fascinating way . This season may be a bit confusing but it's definitely worth the money

River  deffiants  5 star

Guys just because the space man killed the doctor doesn't mean it was river. Remember the suit can kidnap or "eat" people so it could have been someone els... But then again it said she killed a good man and episode 7 is called a good man goes to war so maybe it is river. But any way it's a great series and bow ties are cool.

You Have Got to be Kidding  jrobertunder  5 star

They can't be serious it takes coincidence, convergence, and time travel to the outer edge of absurdity and back again. This is breaking all the rules of every time travel story ever written. Lets talk about the suspense and the suspenders that theyve colectivly hung every fan of this show on. Still have to give it the usual five stars. Dont stop and dont change a thing.

I love Doctor who and I'm ecstatic that this complex episode is already in 1st place on iTunes AHEAD of iParty with VICTORiOUS! Srsly, I didn't think there were that many whovians out there!! OMG, who's surprised that River is Amy's daughter??

Season 6 Part 1  jpamplin28  4 star

I hadn't been impressed with Series 6 so far for the most part with a few exceptions until "When A Good Man Goes to War". An exceptional episode which also moved Rory up in ranks to one of my favorite companions. I could give or take Amy but I have come to adore Rory. I started watching Doctor Who when David Tennent was the Doctor and while I will alway consider David my Doctor I will say that I have come to love Matt Smith as the Doctor was well. I was more than a little worried at first but he has completely won me over. My 10 year old daughter and I can't wait for our Saturday night dates with the Doctor! We look forward to seeing the second part of Series 6 in the fall!

Series 6, Part 1: A detailed (but spoiler-free) review  intercricket  5 star

Episode 1: The Impossible Astronaut Starts things off with a bang (rather literally). The word "impossible" in the title is well-deserved: something you would never have expected to happen really does. Feels more like a typical DW series finale in scope rather than a premiere, and makes for a nice change from the norm. Lots of new plot threads introduced, some new development added to old ones...including the revelation of the Silence, definitely the scariest monster Steven Moffat has created so far. Episode 2: Day of the Moon It's hard to believe after watching Episode One, but this episode is even more incredible and jaw-dropping. All the stars get a chance to stretch their acting muscles and give some strong development to their characters. Plus, we're treated to what is probably the most shocking cliff-hanger ever to be seen in Doctor Who. Episode 3: The Curse of the Black Spot Fun but forgettable. A simplistic romp which adds little to the main story arc. It's not terrible, but it falls far short of the show's usual standard of quality (which admittedly was pushed very high by the premiere). Episode 4: The Doctor's Wife Definitely the best of this set of episodes. It's so surprising and incredible that I can't say much about it without spoiling the genius of its premise. You aren't a true Whovian unless you've seen this, and even if you're not an avid fan, I guarantee you'll love it. Episode 5: The Rebel Flesh An enjoyable return to traditional Who. Very creepy "monsters" (though I'm not sure the term actually applies here). Thought-provoking and engaging. Plus, some things introduced in this episode will become very, very important in the future... Episode 6: The Almost People Even better than Part 1 (a rarity in two-part stories). Provides a satisfying, unpredictable conclusion to one of the thorniest ethical dilemmas the Doctor has yet encountered. Some of the FX are a bit over-ambitious, but that doesn't detract from the fun. And finally, we get some more plot development on the main story arc, in the form of yet another gasp-inducing cliffhanger. You really, really won't see this one coming, and you won't be able to keep yourself from downloading the next episode. Episode 7: A Good Man Goes to War How should I put this? It's a mixed bag. The first half of the episode feels a bit like a rerun of Journey's End, and there are a few irritating bits and pieces randomly thrown in. Then the Doctor makes a mind-blowing discovery, and the second half changes everything for him and his companions - perhaps permanently. And we finally find out who the mysterious River Song is. If you've been watching very carefully thus far, and if you're the kind of person who sees the solution to mystery novels before you finish them, you may not find the revelation surprising. However, it's no less fascinating, and there will be parts of it you won't have been able to guess beforehand. In addition, we really don't find out everything about her in this episode. It'll be a long, long wait until autumn... So overall, this first half of Series 6 gets five stars from me. We finally get some real, honest-to-goodness shocks and surprises, and all the main characters are far better developed than they were last year. Download and enjoy.

WOW. Even more amazing than Series 5, Matt Smith is back, along with Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, giving us another fantastic series... Each moment of each episode has significance, keeps us tuned in, and gives us so many questions. This was an amazing start to the series, I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone. Can't wait for Series 6 Part 2!!
