The Middle, Season 2 Release Date and Synopsis

Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond) stars in this hilarious comedy series as Frankie Heck, a harried wife and working mother of three who uses her wry wit and sense of humor to try to get her family through each day intact. Frankie’s unflappable husband, Mike, is a manager at the local quarry and her sardonic partner in the daily grind of raising their average – yes, most definitely average – family. In between juggling shifts and eating fast food dinners in front of the TV, the Hecks raise their kids with love and solid Midwestern practicality. This season, Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond) guest stars as Brick’s teacher who accuses Frankie of being an overprotective parent. Plus, viewers are introduced to a few of Mike’s family members, including his brother, Rusty (Norm McDonald, Saturday Night Live), and his dad, Big Mike (John Cullum, ER, Northern Exposure). And a foreign exchange student visits … but how exactly will Orson, Indiana, translate?

Favorite ShowThe Middle was a fantastic idea, and it is even better when put on television. We all can relate to the problems the Heck family go through. After all, they are the model American family. A lot of the views kicked off around season 3, but I prefer season 2. It starts out with the hectic Hecks scrambling to start the first day of school. You have the sluggish teenager, the try but fail middle child, the quirky younger brother, the stern dad, and the mom trying to get by raising kids and maintaining a job.The storyline flows very smoothly throughout each episode, with a cause and effect theme for the most part. The show allows you to laugh along with the characters and really enjoy 8:00 to 8:30 on Wednesday nights. Viewers that are just tuning in now should really consider watching seasons 1 and 2. Parents are the real heroes – but Frankie Heck (Patricia Heaton), must be some kind of superhero. A loving wife and mother of three, she's middle class in the middle of the country and is rapidly approaching middle age. Frankie and her husband, Mike (Neil Flynn), have lived in Orson, Indiana, their whole lives. A man of few words (every one a zinger), Mike is a manager at the town quarry and Frankie is the third-best used car salesman (out of the three) at the local dealership. She may not be a high-powered career woman, but when it comes to her family, she'll go to just about any length. And with kids like these, she had better. There's Axl (Charlie McDermott), her semi-nudist teenage son conceived while under the influence of Guns N' Roses; Sue (Eden Sher), the awkward teenage daughter who fails at everything … but with the utmost of gusto; and their 7-year-old son Brick (Atticus Shaffer), whose best friend is his backpack. Together, they're putting THE MIDDLE on the map.

Two-time Emmy® winner Patricia Heaton and Neil Flynn star as Frankie and Mike Heck, frazzled parents trying to stretch their patience and paychecks around three brilliantly true-to-life kids: slacker teen Axl (Charlie McDermott), the over-but-somehow-always-under-achieving Sue (Eden Sher), and the bookish Brick (Atticus Shaffer), perhaps the only kid to ever have his birthday party at the public library. This year, Sue's entering high school and will attempt to not only navigate the raging waters of school life, but also co-exist with Axl, who is not too thrilled with his little sister being at the same school. With high-profile guest stars like Ray Romano, Glee’s Chord Oversteet and more, The Middle is exactly where you want to be.
