From Masterpiece on PBS. Before Inspector Morse, there was the rookie Constable Morse, fed up with police work and ready to nip his career in the bud by handing in his resignation. That is, until a murder turned up that only he could solve. Good IdeaMorse had to start somewhere, and the good Chief Inspector who is in charge of Morse' education and integration is a hark to the Morse-Lewis alliance! Lots of people in this first story, sort of hard to keep everybody straight. But still Morse is there quiet and perspicacious.Score: 5/5
