The Americans is a period drama about the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington D.C. shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected President. The arranged marriage of Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell), who have two children – 13-year-old Paige (Holly Taylor) and 10-year-old Henry (Keidrich Sellati), who know nothing about their parents’ true identity – grows more passionate and genuine by the day, but is constantly tested by the escalation of the Cold War and the intimate, dangerous and darkly funny relationships they must maintain with a network of spies and informants under their control. Complicating their relationship further is Philip’s growing sense of affinity for America’s values and way of life. Tensions also heighten upon the arrival of a new neighbor, Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich), an FBI agent. Stan and his partner, Agent Chris Amador (Maximiliano Hernández), are members of a new division of Counterintelligence tasked with fighting against foreign agents on U.S. soil, including KGB Directorate S illegals, Russian spies posing as Americans. Очень понравился сериал. Легко смотреть и сюжет захватывающий. Всегда хотел узнать как обстояли дела back then. It pretty much gives the idea. Love it 😍 🇺🇸 ☭
Unrealstic fight sequences, showis a 100 lb women taking down a 230 lb guy - crazy silly. It simply is not believable. We should never have commercials, if we paid for the show, just saying.
One of the best spy dramas on TV right now (comparable to if not better than Homeland) depicting the Reagan years of the Cold War from the unique perspective of two married KGB sleeper agents. I was pleasantly surprised that FX produced such a great drama that is top notch on all fronts - superb acting, well cast, intricate plot development, and a spot as an 80s period piece. This show only gets better with each season, one of the very few shows I subscribe to each season on my Apple TV. Don’t miss out on this one.
I come here to avoid the commercials and yet pay my share for the show. I see the season price is discounted but I would gladly buy the season and pay more for it without the commercials. I won´t buy even another episode because of them. Pity.
I cannot wait to see Amazon show the rest in 2016. :)
back on sale!!!
Great series, dark but not deep -read realistic, enough. Intel ops have a wide range of influence. T.As. Only shows the spy couple going about their daily American family/ Soviet spies life, just following orders. Interesting but could have gone further.
A pretty good series, based on a fun premise. Not great, however. The writing is sometimes really clunky and shows the writers' (a) age, when they get details about how people thought and talked in the 80s just plain wrong (e.g., NO one in the early 1980s would have to explain who "this actress, Jodie Foster" was), and (b) their ignorance about Washington DC -- e.g., NO one in the DC metro says "southeast DC." Maybe since they shoot the show on Long Island they figured they'd get a by, but a smidgen of homework would've helped. Why didn't they just ask their parents? Still, it's well acted, and the plots are no sillier than on any other tv show of this fantasy-espionage genre, and it moves along pretty briskly and with some real tension and suspense. Taken with a few grains of salt it's decent entertainment.
Reviews are significantly overrated. Moderately interesting, but rather pedestrian overall. Not a wow series by any means.
I hope the 2nd season’s as good as the first. Also, they must have removed the commercials that people were complaining about - there weren’t any commercials in any of the episodes I downloaded.
this is fantastic! if you like homeland you will like this...the acting is terrific...the character development is terrific...and the story is , well, terrific!
The best show I've ever seen on FX or television for that matter. Love Keri Russell! Makes me root for the Soviets!
Acting okay, but script is pretty bad.
Totally gripping. Fabulous acting and script.
Found the acting convincing. the plots were interesting and attention holding.
It's been awhile since I've seen a good espionage series. And I must say... Creators of The Americans... Great job! I love this series. It is worth the season's pass. I can't wait to know what's gonna happen next! One of the best series I've seen so far!
I have enjoyed the show tremendously so far. It is very well done with lots of twists and turns in the plot. The only negative is the explicit sex which I think is over-the-top.
Watching FX's Americans is terrific! Very well written, great acting, and full of suspense. I was glad when the Cold War ended, but now I can't wait for it return every week.
Excellent show!!! Great plot
What a fantastic show!!! Leave it to FX for creating such a phenomenal addition to their lineup.
This is a well-written series that is suspenseful and really entertaining. It's my husband's favorite show and I was hooked by the 3rd episode. Great plotlines, actors are believable and it is cool that it is set in the early 80's...oh! And "John Boy" plays the head of the CIA.
it is the best show TV currently offers
Finally an extraordinary series with educated twists and turns. Kerri's performance is what a real Russian would deliver...passion. Kudos for adding Margo Martindale. Loved her in Justified!
I watched this show because of keri russell (Elizabeth) but she has not disappointed me AT ALL. She's amazing in this show. I love this show too it's amazing and has an Amazing story to it.
Sex, Spies, and Suspense…this show has it all and, as it's paralleled along real-life historical events, you can just about imagine this kind of thing going on back in the late Cold War days of the 1980's. Get it on Season Pass - you won't regret it!
