One good, then one badYou can never blame Bourdain for being a âstick to the formulaâ guy. But for me, the avant garde approach they came up with in the New Mexico and Tokyo episodes were not appealing. I couldnât finish either, and it wasnât the subject matter itself. I think they just tried too hard to break some non-existent cinematic threshold. Sicily and Spain were well documented pieces that I really enjoyed. South Africa was a predictable bit that focused predominantly on apartheid, but grew tired and repeated after about 5 minutes. Either way, taste is subjective, and if you arenât into the vanilla travesties that are on the rest of the channels these days, this is a good show for you..Score: 4/5
