The most anticipated television event of the year returns for a second season. The end of civilization was just the beginning for Rick Grimes and the other survivors. As the fight to stay alive intensifies and personal rivalries continue to fuel, the group struggles to hold on to their humanity in a time where slim chances are all that is left.
The Walking Dead returns. The intense season finale left Rick and the group outgunned, outnumbered, and trapped in a boxcar awaiting a grim fate. Season 5 weaves together the true motives of the people of Terminus with the fate of the group's lost members and the hopeful prospect of a cure in Washington, D.C. Season 4 Det har gått flera månader sen Woodburyfolket flyttade in i fängelset och Rick har avstått från sitt ledarskap för att ta det lugnt. Men just när man trodde att fängelset hade blivit en säker plats sker det märkliga saker som sätter allas liv på spel. Ovanligt många zombier dyker upp och tränger sig igenom stängslen och ett dödligt virus drabbar de flesta i fängelset. Rick och de andra gör vad de kan för att hjälpa alla och rädda fängelset men när Guvernören återvänder för att ta fängelset från dem slutar det med ett våldsamt krig som förstör stora delar av fängelset och gör det fullständigt osäkert. Gruppen splittras från varandra och de måste hitta varandra och återigen hitta en ny säker plats.

Season 4 Radnja četvrte sezone serije započinje nekoliko mjeseci nakon završetka prethodne. Život preživjelih u zatvoru postao je relativno miran. Rick je u međuvremenu donio odluku da neće biti jedini vođa zajednice pa je oformljeno vijeće kao njegova zamjena. Ipak, mir u zajednici uskoro narušava smrtonosna zaraza koja se počela širiti i ubijati mnogobrojne preživjele. Mala skupina preživjelih ode iz zatvora u potrazi za lijekovima te se s istima vrate kako bi spriječili daljnje širenje infekcije.
U međuvremenu u flashback scenama otkrivamo da su Guvernera napustili preostali pristaše nakon neuspjelog napada na zatvor; on se sam vraća u Woodbury i spaljuje gradić prije nego se uputi u besciljno lutanje okolicom. Ricka i ostatak njegove grupe stanovnici Terminusa uvjeravaju da su sada na sigurnom, ali uskoro izbija sukob nakon što Rick opazi Hershelov sat, Glennovu opremu i Maggiein šešir koje nose drugi stanovnici Terminusa. Brojčano nadjačani, Rick i ostali primorani su predati se. Gareth, vođa Terminusa, im naređuje da odu u vagon gdje uskoro otkrivaju Glennovu i Maggieinu skupinu koje se također nalaze u zarobljeništvu. Un autre problème vient s'additionner à la vie des occupants : une épidémie commence à se propager à l'intérieur de la prison, touchant et tuant de nombreuses personnes, lesquelles se transforment peu après en rôdeurs. Dans l'urgence, ils prennent la décision de mettre les malades en quarantaine. Karen, la petite amie de Tyreese, qui a été touchée par l’épidémie, est retrouvée morte, le corps entièrement brûlé. Cette découverte affecte profondément Tyreese, qui exige de Rick des explications. Dans sa rage, Tyreese s'en prend à Rick mais celui-ci riposte avec une telle violence qu'il se blesse à la main droite.
Dehors, la situation empire, les rôdeurs, toujours plus nombreux, s'agglutinent contre la grille et risquent de la faire céder à tout moment, tandis que le Gouverneur, plein de rancune à l'égard de Rick, veut sa revanche.
Esta temporada es adaptada varios meses después del ataque a la prisión por parte del gobernador y su ejercito. Rick, quien ahora ha decidido alejarse de su puesto como líder del grupo con la finalidad de vivir una vida más calmada y alejada de los peligros de la temporada pasada, trata de aferrarse a su lado humano y junto al resto de sus compañeros sobrevivientes luchan por conservar una vida pacifica dentro de la prisión. Los problemas crecen con la cara de un nuevo mal que amenaza tanto dentro y fuera de su hogar, ademas del regreso de un vengativo gobernador, que trata de recuperar su poder. Por si eso no fuera poco, el grupo deberá de cuidarse de una creciente ola de enfermedades dentro de la prisión y que presentará una amenaza mayor a la de los caminantes.
