In the wealthy, seaside community of Neptune, the rich and powerful make the rules. They own the town and the high school, and they desperately try to keep their dirty little secrets just that...secret. Unfortunately for them, there's Veronica Mars, a smart, fearless 18-year-old apprentice private investigator dedicated to solving the town's toughest mysteries. During the day, high school senior Veronica negotiates the halls of Neptune High like any average teenage girl. WARNING: THIS HAS THE WRONG PILOTWhen the CW originally released this, they used a weird edit of the pilot that pushed the Noir element of Veronica’s first monologue outside the motel 18 minutes into the episode, after the sunny parking lot scene. (CW in this era was no better than Fox for narrative breaking edits.) When S1 was released on DVD, the Pilot was properly recut (and is Rob Thomas’ preferred cut) with the cold open. Therefore: the pilot episode is a mess. It’s not worth demanding my money back, since the rest of the series is fine, but be aware: you’re probably gonna have to go buy the S1E1’s extended version from the S1 separate listing. (It’s still cheaper.).Score: 5/5

Pilot may be correct.After reading the comment about the pilot and watching the one associated with the complete series purchase, I went and purchased the extended version separately from S1 - same show. So, I rented the DVD, that clearly indicated it contained the extended version - again, same show. Thus, I'm inclined to believe that while what is stated might have been true at one time, it seems like it has been "resolved", and that the complete series purchase does, in fact, contain the extended version of the pilot that begins with Veronica sitting in her car outside the motel..Score: 5/5
