A restoration teams has re-mastered episodes 1,2 ,4, 5 & 6 from the original black and white 1960s film and subsequently gone through a frame by frame restoration to the fantastic quality that audiences expect from Doctor Who. Episode 3 has been reconstructed using stills and audio. This is the 1968 story, The Web of Fear, and, as the original episode three remains missing, part of this story has been reconstructed using stills with the original audio. Starring Patrick Troughton alongside Frazer Hines and Deborah Watling the story introduces Nicholas Courtney for the first time as Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart (who later returns as Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart). The TARDIS narrowly avoids becoming engulfed in a cobwebby substance in space. It arrives in the London Underground railway system, the tunnels of which are being overrun by the web and by the Great Intelligence's robot Yeti. The time travellers learn this crisis was precipitated when Professor Travers accidentally caused one of the Yeti to be reactivated, opening the way for the Intelligence to invade again. The travellers work alongside army forces as they battle the alien menace, hampered by one of their number who has fallen under the Intelligence's influence and is a traitor in their midst. The Intelligence's goal is to drain the Second Doctor's mind. The Doctor sabotages the device with which it intends to achieve this, so he can drain the Intelligence's mind instead, but he is rescued by his friends before he can bring his plan to fruition. The Intelligence is repelled into space and the Doctor and his friends leave the army to clear up the mess.

The Great Intelligence and the YetiA very popular story returns after missing for 45 years. This tale is the center story for the Yeti as is told, much like Travers reunion with the Doctor, Victoria and Jamie, which had taken place 40 years previously in a Tibetan Monastery. They join forces with UNIT for the first time and meet Lethbridge-Stewart, who would later be remembered as The Brigadier. A 30th Anniversary story called Downtime, brings back Victoria who is in league with The Great Intelligence, and she is pitted against Sarah Jane Smith and the Brigadier..Score: 5/5
I feel like a kid in a candy store. I WANT JELLY BABIES!!!!I've been a Doctor Who fan since 1979, Genesis of the Daleks was my first episode that I saw and I was hooked. I've seen every episode and read every book. The Web of Fear was one of my favorites. I wrote a book report on in the 4th grade (aced too). Now to actually see this classic is awesome. I will be purchasing The Enemy of the World next..Score: 5/5
Frighteningly amazingI have to admit, even though I'm extremely familiar with this episode, I was still frightened by some of the Yeti scenes. This story is a great story overall, with an amazing set, amazing actors, and the first appearance of the popular character, the Brigadier (who is, in this episode, the Colonel)..Score: 5/5
Brigadier's 1st AppearanceI know that the fact that this serial was missing for many years irked many fans (third only to Season 4 Episodes and the Second Doctor's Very First Usage of the Sonic Screwdriver) because this is the Brigadier's 1st Appearance in the series. I hope that Episode Three will someday be recovered, but Season Five was almost as badly lost as Season Four, considering prior to the recent recovery, only "The Tomb of the Cybermen" was complete between the two seasons..Score: 4/5

A gem, recovered at last!Jon Pertwee once remarked that Doctor Who is most effective when the menace occurs on Earth. "The Web of Fear" is a prime example of that belief. It's no wonder that this story has prevailed in the minds and imagination of Whovians for decades. Now, at last, everyone has the chance to enjoy these long-lost episodes for themselves! Episode 1 is *NOT* the earliest available episode of the Patrick Troughton era. As of late 2015, that honour belongs to the second episode of The Underwater Menace.
