Night Court, Season 517 September 198722 Episodes

The Emmy®-winning comedy continues its lighthearted look at night court in New York City in the 1980s, where anything can happen. As season five starts, a distraught Judge Harry T. Stone finalizes his plan to pull a crazy prank against the City of New York for — he thinks — not reappointing him to the bench. Can he be stopped in time and told he has his job back? Plus, Roz is diagnosed with diabetes and the group rallies to lift her spirits. Speaking of spirits, in a special Halloween episode, Harry is trapped in a safe and Dan tries to buy his soul back from the devil. Sounds pricey! Guest stars this season include Johnny Carson as Christine’s admirer; Don Cheadle as a teenager in need of support; Teri Hatcher as the buxom young niece of Dan’s boss; and Yakov Smirnoff, who tries to get arrested in order to be deported back to Russia because his mother is ill. Plus, why is Mel Torme (appearing as himself) in Harry’s courtroom?

Night Court, Season 727 September 198924 Episodes

The Emmy®-winning comedy scores laughs with its lighthearted look at the crazy cases and characters of New York’s night court in the late 1980s. Emmy® winner John Larroquette’s comedic skills shine as he brings to life arrogant assistant district attorney Dan Fielding. First, Dan gets more than he bargained for when he foolishly agrees to take bailiff Bull (Richard Moll) to a private singles club. Then, Dan hosts a controversial late-night talk show where his natural talent for insulting people comes in handy. Plus, Roz gives Dan dancing lessons and Christine finds out she is pregnant! Recurring guest star John Astin (The Addams Family) appears as Harry’s estranged father, Buddy, who used to live in a mental institution. He might just fit right in with the ongoing stream of oddball defendants in New York City’s night court. Gordon Clapp (NYPD Blue) and Ray Abruzzo (The Practice) also guest star.

Stone (Harry Anderson) maintains his belief that he can help the people brought before him in New York City’s night court. This season on the Emmy®-winning comedy, Harry and defense attorney Christine Sullivan (Markie Post) begin seeing each other outside of work, but when Christine’s ex-husband (guest star Ray Abruzzo – The Practice) shows up, Harry may let jealousy sabotage the budding relationship. Plus, Mac (Charles Robinson) is offered a new job as a clerk to a Supreme Court justice, and Dan, after learning his assistant Phil (Will Utay – Days of Our Lives) is rich, begins plotting to become best friends. Guest stars in season eight also include Stephen Root (NewsRadio, The West Wing), Louis Mustillo (Mike & Molly) and an appearance by crooner Mel Torme as Harry’s guardian angel.

Disorder in the Court! That’s the verdict when a parade of zany and bizarre characters passes before an unconventional and unpredictable judge in this hilarious sitcom. At night is when you’ll meet the weirdos, wannabes, lecherous fiends, nutballs, and more — and those are just the people in charge of New York’s Criminal Court Swing Shift. Magician/comedian Harry Anderson portrays Judge Harold “Harry” T. Stone, a man with a joy-buzzer sense of courtroom decorum and a gleeful enthusiasm for velvet-voiced scat singer Mel Torme. Boston Legal's John Larroquette and the imposing Richard Moll team up with Anderson for the show’s run of law and disorder in the debut season. Also on the docket for the first premiere are guest stars Michael J. Fox and Russain comedian Yakov Smirnoff. Court’s in session . . . and so’s the fun!

Night Court, Season 626 October 198822 Episodes

The Emmy®-winning comedy scores laughs with its lighthearted look at the crazy cases and characters that appear in night court in New York City in the 1980s, where anything — and everything — happens. As season six begins, the question remains: Is Assistant D.A. Dan Fielding (Emmy® winner John Larroquette) dead? After his plane crashes, he is presumed gone — how will his colleagues react? Elsewhere, defense attorney Christine Sullivan (Markie Post) is replaced after being listed as dead by a Personnel computer glitch, and a defendant is suddenly “alive” after 20 years in a coma. Plus, a city auditor scoffs at the idea that Judge Harry T. Stone (Harry Anderson) and his courtroom are a magnet for bizarre and costly happenings . . . until a clown holds them hostage — including the auditor. And in a perhaps prophetic nod to reality TV of today, the courtroom turns into a circus when Harry allows proceedings to be shown on TV.
