In this series debut Housewife Nancy Botwin is widowed and turns to dealing marijuana to support her two sons while also attempting to keep her image in the picturesque suburb of Agrestic. Meanwhile her neighbour - PTA mother Celia Hodes tries to catch her daughter Quinn in the act with Nancy's son Silas and finds out more than she bargained for...
As Celia deals with the other woman in her marriage Nancy contemplates creating a cover business to solve the cash-only financial issues caused by her drug dealing. Silas has to deal with his girlfriend's sudden departure when her mother sends her to Mexico while Shane tries to come to terms with missing his Dad.
A mountain lion is on the prowl in Agrestic but it's the medical marijuana facility that is cause the most havoc in Nancy's life. Faced with the dilemma of having to compete Nancy has to get cooking. Silas make a move on deaf girl Megan causing him some interesting problems of his own while Celia and daughter Isabel's war over weight issues gets dirty with some not very motherly use of laxatives...
Nancy gets a rude awakening when her brother-in-law Andy comes for a surprise visit. Doug has an idea for a location for the faux bakery which Nancy may need more than ever. While Andy wreaks havoc in the Botwin's lives Nancy is introduced to The Candy Man in order to help meet her customer's needs and Celia drops a bombshell on her husband.
Nancy gets a reality check about what a life of crime can entail. Celia has a new outlook on life and tries alternative methods to deal with her breast cancer while Andy get arrested for possession and Shane is in trouble at school - again.
Celia joins Nancy and Conrad for a night out on the town. Meanwhile Andy meets a woman with whom he starts a relationship based on lies - as always - and Lupita starts investigating where Nancy gets her money from…
Shane has a new friend but of course Andy is more interested in the boy's mother. Nancy discovers a whole new set of customers at a local college and hires an employee but becomes known to a rival in the process. Celia's mother comes to visit after Celia's surgery.
Nancy attempts to deal with her rival dealer Alejandro. Shane bites another classmate's foot in karate class while Doug Andy and Lupita battle against rodent infestations and Celia flaunts her one night stand with Conrad to her husband.
Nancy gets busted on campus and Heylia teaches her a $14 000 lesson. Elsewhere her 'fakery' Breadsticks and Scones doesn't get off to a good start and Celia is up against a determined PTA mom.
Andy gets drafted and Silas takes ecstasy instigating a revelatory argument with his mother. Nancy cuts out the middleman and also finds herself a new man Peter who has a secret of his own…
Nancy has to choose between her new grow house business or her new boyfriend Peter who she discovers is a DEA Agent. Andy sets forth on his plan to attend Rabbinical School but first he must convince Yael the lovely admissions officer to allow him in. Meanwhile Celia decides to run against Doug for City Council.
Nancy breaks it off with Peter and gets on with her plan for her grow house. With Conrad out the rest of the team goes shopping for a new plant at The Mohasky Cup a marijuana convention of sorts. Megan is accepted into Princeton leaving Silas to wonder what will become of them. Celia begs Nancy to help with her campaign.
Nancy still reeling from the fact Peter knows she's a dealer comes home to face even more problems: her plumbing is shot and her son has hit puberty. Celia enrolls Isabel in boot camp. Heylia has eyes for Nation of Islam member Joseph Mohammed.
With her newly acquired power (the electric kind) Nancy is ready to grow. Much to Celia's dismay Isabel is recruited to model clothes for plus-sized kids. Silas and Megan deal with the consequences of their sex-capade . Andy brings Shane to a massage parlour. Will it be a happy ending?
Nancy must deal with Silas and Megan's pregnancy as well as the surrounding Armenian grow houses Conrad warns the gang about. Isabel auditions for Huskeroos and Celia prepares for her elections debates trying in vain to get Nancy involved. Heylia preps for her date with Joseph and Peter gives Nancy the perfect wedding gift.
Nancy and Conrad fear their grow house has been raided by the DEA but actually the house was saved by the DEA. Celia gets kicked off the set of Isabel's Huskaroo commercial.
Nancy deals with Shane's puppy love and Sila's failing grades while Andy recovers from a freak accident at the grow house. Celia defeats Doug in the City Council election.
It's Harvest Time. Nancy and Conrad make their first sale – to Snoop Dogg – and everything is looking good until Peter lets Nancy know that the DEA has got to make a bust.
Nancy faces pressure from Peter to get out of the business. After heckling Celia at her first city council meeting Doug calls a truce. Silas and Shane celebrate their dad's birthday.
After a near bust by the DEA Heylia puts serious pressure on Nancy to make things right. Nancy scrambles to come up with a plan.
Having listened to Nancy and Conrad's phone conversation Peter decides it's No-More-Mr. Nice DEA-Agent.
It's the big day. But Nancy must also contend with Silas's disappearance Shane's inflammatory graduation speech and Celia's madness. Of course nothing can compare to the chaos she and Conrad find themselves in when their weed deal goes bad.

Change is the name of the game for everyone in the 4th Season Opener as the Botwin family homeless since their beloved town of Majestic has burned down hits the road in search of a new place to call home and of course grow Weed. Their leaving is right on time as relentless DEA Capt. Roy Till continues to hunt for whomever is responsible for the temporary grow house now abandoned by Conrad and Heylia. With all the real players gone everyone fingers Celia as the culprit but she points to Nancy; the family heads to Del Mar where Andy's grandmother lives but no one is happy to learn Andy's father is in charge; Guillermo offers Nancy a new opportunity in a much riskier end of the drug business.
Celia tries to adjust to life on the inside; Nancy runs into trouble making her first border run; Silas finds a new place to start growing; Roy Till begins to believe Celia's story; an argument between Andy and Lenny reveals more family history while Bubbie finds a way to make a revelation of her own.
Nancy learns to traffic across the border Bubbie wants to die Shane talks to Grampa Lennie about it Andy DOESN'T talk to his dad about it Celia makes a deal to try to sell Nancy out Doug gets confronted by the new City Council and there's an unplugging party.
After Bubbie's death the entire Botwin family sits shiva for seven days. After shiva Nancy is sent on a mission and takes Andy along with her. Now that shiva is over Lenny decides to sell the house. The market is low so he heads to France to gamble with found money of Nancy's instead.
Guillermo gives Nancy a new job and she soon finds that working retail isn't as mundane as it appears on the surface. Celia's deal with Capt. Till brings her dangerously close to the action.
Nancy follows the tunnel in the back of the maternity shop and sees something she shouldn't see at the other end. Dean takes a new job leaving Isabelle to live with Celia. Meanwhile Silas flirts with Lisa.
Nancy needing more cash wants to get back into the selling game; Andy and Doug are determined to become kinder and gentler Coyotes; Lisa gives in to her attraction to Silas; Shane and Isabel stumble across some racy pictures that Judah took of Nancy when they were dating; Celia goes south of the border to buy her prescription drugs; Nancy gets very special treatment from Esteban after surprising him with a visit.
An impromptu lunch date for Nancy and Esteban ends in a hail of gunfire; Celia seems to have developed a dependency on Xanax; Silas tells Lisa what he grows and Lisa offers him use of her shop as a cover; acting on advice from Cesar Shane carries out a preemptive strike at his new school; Doug and Andy's Coyote business attracts some unwanted attention; as their dream date continues Nancy learns more about Esteban's appetites and desires.
Nancy and Esteban have scheduling problems. Celia has become addicted. Nancy catches Silas and Lisa. Andy catches Shane masturbating with photos of Nancy. Cue Nancy giving the boys an uncomfortable lecture. Mexicans celebrate El Andy.
Celia's family and friends arrange an intervention for her. Nancy gets a migraine from finding out that there is another use for the tunnel. Mexicans find Maria. Shane tries a threesome with Harmony and Simone. Silas pines after Lisa.
Nancy has to deal with the aftermath of Shane's exploits the after-effects of her ayahuasca trip and further confrontations with Guillermo. Silas asks Nancy to respect his need for more space . As a result of the struggles with her rehab partner Celia is forced to leave the facility and has to transfer to a less exclusive institution. Doug and Maria's relationship quickly goes south. At the end of the episode Nancy meets with agent Till and reveals Guillermo's whereabouts.
Nancy makes a risky deal with Capt. Till. Celia has a revelation. Maria comes on to Andy even though Doug may have her deported. Nancy wants to hear Esteban say it . Shane secretly keeps hanging with Harmony and Simone.
It is Silas' eighteenth birthday and Nancy is struggling to keep her involvement in the bust a secret from Esteban. Meanwhile Andy evaluates his relationship with Nancy and Shane starts dealing weed at his school. Celia inspired by rehab is trying to make amends by apologizing to family members but is sedated and kidnapped by Quinn (her oldest daughter whom she sent to a Mexican boarding school in season one) in order to extort ransom from Dean. Esteban learns of Nancy's involvement in the raid and in order to protect herself Nancy reveals that she is carrying his child.
