In a tiny Alabama town with the curious name of Muscle Shoals, something miraculous sprang from the mud of the Tennessee River. A group of unassuming, yet incredibly talented, locals came together and spawned some of the greatest music of all time: “Mustang Sally,” “I Never Loved a Man,” “Wild Horses,” and many more. During the most incendiary periods of racial hostility, white folks and black folks came together to create music that would last for generations and gave birth to the incomparable “Muscle Shoals sound.”

Muscle ShoalsMy rating centers on the "rental only" format; the movie itself, at least that part I was able to view, looked very well done and interesting. My problem is with the "rent only" format. I started the film, got 30 minutes in and suddenly it just stopped playing. I could not get the problem fixed and sure enough time elapsed and Apple pulled the rental plug. This same sort of problem has happened a couple of times before and I NEVER have trouble with the 'purchase' format, so I feel that the 'rent only' format is basically a ripoff. Too bad because I would have spent more and purchased this film, but I will never try and rent it again..Score: 2/5

Great movie for a town where music history was made.This movie talks about a small town in Northwest Alabama situated on the Tennessee River. could be argued the birthplace of R&B and Southern Rock and in this small town well presented made me miss this area for it was where I grew up as a child and really did not know all this good music was coming out of this small town.Should get serious Oscar consideration for best documentary ..Score: 5/5
