Accidentally overdosing on medication, a psychotic McCoy leaps through a time portal into the 1930s and somehow disrupts Earth's future so that the Federation and Starfleet do not exist. The stranded Kirk and Spock follow him back to set things right, where a tragic love tests Kirk's resolve. Viewers of the Remastered edition will get a much more detailed vision of the "time planet" from space, and an even more evocative final fade-out amid Kirk's grief and fatigue..

Still WOnderfulAfter seeing the newest & imho most fabulous Star Trek movie (2009), I had to go back to the beginning. It seems like this show was on at some point nearly every day during my childhood and I loved it as a kid. Now, I'm rewatching the series, and the new effects are an enhancement and do not detract from this classic in any way. I didn't realize until rewatching as an adult what a hottie Shatner is in the series! But, my 9-year old is really enjoying it, too. He knows the special effects are dated and the show is a little campy and some of the sexist stuff is silly & old fashioned because that's just how it was in the 60's. All the groovy hairdos and clothes are just great to see again. Nimoy is super as a Vulcan and Shatner as Kirk is always the warm, thoughtful, smart, kind, endearing leader. We're really enjoying the crispness of the picture on our HD tv. I downloaded the show from iTunes, put it on my iPhone, bought the special iPhone to TV connector, and now we're watching the show on our HD tv! Marvelous! A "Must Have" For Star Trek FansA "must have" for Star Trek fans. The digital remastering work is focused primarily on Enterprise and planet fly-bys, viewing screen content on the bridge, and some glass paintings and mats for large scenes (e.g., a landing part beaming down to an immense city-scape of ruins). They stay true to the spirit of the original series, while taking advantage of the latest CGI effects. The classic series that started it all!Overall Iām pleased with how the remasters have turned out, they managed to resist the urge to change too much and have kept things mostly in-keeping with the original, iconic look of the series. However, I do have some criticisms of how Apple are distributing them. Given the price I would have expected access to the original versions of the episodes. The Blu-Ray releases allow you to switch between versions at will, and while I donāt expect seamless switching from iTunes I would at least expect to be allowed to download the original versions. Further, I wish the show was presented in production order rather than original broadcast order. While there is certainly some merit to experiencing the episodes in the order that original viewers saw (with the no-doubt confusing appearance of the second pilot as the third episode) itās much more satisfying to watch the cast, sets, props and effects evolve as production continues. Finally, why is The Cage not included? It was originally released as part of Season 3 but none of the iTunes releases include it, which is a pretty unforgivable omission given that it was one of the best Classic Trek episodes..Score: 3/5
