In this follow up to the groundbreaking film, "The New Asylums," Frontline examines what happens to the mentally ill when they leave prison and why they return at such alarming rates. The intimate stories of the released-along with interviews with parole officers, social workers, and psychiatrists-provide a rare look at the lives of the mentally ill as they struggle to stay out of prison and reintegrate into society..

What happened? No longer relevant. How can you produce "Inside the Meltdown" and not even mention personal greed. It almost seemed that the show was blaming the government for not responding fast enough, and completing glossing over the fact that it was the private market that caused the problem in the first place. "War Briefing" not to be missed"The War Briefing" is without a doubt one of the best documentaries I've seen on the war(s) to date, and I do believe I've seen them all. It is worth every penny, and those pennies go to WGBH. What could be better?.Score: 5/5
"The Choice"-- better than the debatesGreat biographies of both candidates, and how their political careers led them to this point. There's no political banter of "you voted for this" or "you voted against this", name calling, and none of the annoying spin that the candidates use in their commercials and debates. There's just the facts of what brought the candidates to pursue public offices in the first place, and then the road they took to becoming the nominees for President. I highly recommend this episode ("The Choice") to anyone who wants to learn about the candidates. Thanks Frontline, for giving us something truly educational and non-biased..Score: 5/5
The Best News/Documentary Series on TVIs there any debate that Frontline is the most even-handed, deeply researched, professionally produced and all-around excellent news/documentary series on television? This series takes me places I never knew I would ever go -- it is worth ten times the price. To me, Frontline's journalistic tone has always expertly balanced dispassion and engagement, neutrality and truthfulness. The bottom line for me is that I learn -- a lot -- from watching Frontline. Really informative, balanced, entertainingThis episode was brilliant. It covers, in a balanced way: the history of Chavez and his rise to power, his growing relationship to Castro, the government's apparent inability to deliver progressive change, and the problems experienced by real Venezuelans. The interviews are very moving, and the strong emotions on both sides are communicated well. Most impressive are the clips that were selected from Hugo's weekly show that is watched by millions - they display an interesting view into his psychology, motivations, and insecurities - sometimes hilarious and other times frightening. The interviews and reporting were, as usual, top-notch and objective. Frontline is one of the best news shows ever, and this episode is yet another example of top-notch investigative reporting..Score: 5/5
Provides excellent context in the final days of the race...Kudos to Frontline for "The Choice" - it's an even handed, in depth piece that does a really nice job fleshing out the candidates' political backgrounds, trajectories and character. Dreams of Obama: Great, but watch The Choice InsteadI don't seem to be able to write a review of just the "Dreams of Obama" episode alone, but I wanted to point out that it's almost entirely made up of footage that appears in "The Choice" with about 2 minutes of post-election coverage added at the end. The show in itself is good, giving you a sense of where President Barack comes from. But you may as well get "The Choice" for the same price and with an extra hour on John McCain.
