Part 1 of 2. Daniel Graystone, a computer engineering genius, owns a large corporation that is spearheading the development of artificial intelligence. His unwavering professional pursuits are driven to extreme measures when personal tragedy strikes him and his wife Amanda: their strong-willed daughter Zoe dies in a terrorist bombing fueled by an underground religious dogma. Unbeknownst to her parents, the teenager had been dabbling in these radical teachings, which were secretly propagated by her school's headmistress, Sister Clarice Willow. Also living on Caprica but deeply entrenched in a cultural heritage that sets them apart from the rest of civilization, is the Adama clan, helmed by Joseph Adama, a renowned criminal defense attorney - with questionable ties and sometimes-devious methods - and father to William and Tamara. When Joseph's wife and daughter perish in the same attack that befell Zoe Graystone, Joseph's path crosses Daniel's, and the two become united in their grief. Soon, Daniel lets Joseph in on a sinister secret: Zoe, a computer genius in her own right, had been experimenting with perilous virtual reality technology along with her friend Lacy, and created a life-like avatar of herself, a perfect digital copy. Obsessed with the possibility of seeing his daughter again, and preying on Joseph's shared emotions, Daniel implores his new confidante to help make Zoe's vision a reality. Appalled by the ethical implications of recreating a soul, but aching to bring his own daughter back to life, Joseph complies...and the fate of the human race is altered forever..

Where is my Caprica?I paid for the full season in good faith, and SiFi cancels the show and I am left holding the bag and I'm out the money I paid for the season pass, I smell a class action law suit coming. I have a feeling that this show being shut down mid season in the age of iTunes is going to have far reaching effects in the world of how network programming is set up. You can not bill people for goods and services and not deliver the content promised. I love Caprica, but I do not enjoy being screwed by NBC and Comcast..Score: 5/5

There has to be moreBattlestar Galactica had its beginnings in the shoot-em-up space hero genre but, it has grown up with it's audience. Caprica, as a prequel to that arc is truly a triumph which encompasses a rich, character driven storyline. The science-fiction themes, while ever-present are subtle enough to blend with the human aspects of the story and the tale is gripping from the pilot to the last episode. The world presented in Caprica is not so far from our own inasmuch as technology is advancing at a pace which will likely outstrip our own ability to fully understand it. The subtle interaction of data and physical machines with almost human intelligence and the ever present threat of radicalism and terrorism as a political tool is as dangerous here as it is portrayed to be on Caprica. There is so much fatuous rubbish on our screens today that its almost a crime to cancel a series that actually requires a thinking audience. Caprica needs more series. Buy this one, enjoy it and make sure you tell the makers just how good it is. I give it ten stars!.Score: 5/5
One of the best sci-fi shows EVER!!Caprica, Dollhouse, SGU are all very ultra-intelligent, science-based quality examples of how good Sci-Fi can be when you give it half a chance...but that chance needs to be more than 2 seasons long (same thing almost killed Fringe this year after 4 seasons with Fox. It made it longer than most because it is actually on network TV, but it was the same principle). Caprica is part of the Galactica Universe and in-fact gives us geeks one of our most precious plot lines...The Origin story. Every great Science Fiction tale leaves it's audience wondering how things got from here to there ("Star Wars", "Planet of the Apes", "Terminator", etc.). And Caprica delivered!!! There was so much more mythology to explore, yet because complicated storylines need time to build when done correctly, they usually don't make it because we live in this fast-food, self-serve, express lane, "vote them off the island" era. Remember "Quality takes time", "Wine gets better with age", "Good things come to those who wait". Caprica is a great show and it's sad to think that it was just getting started. Don't take my word for it, cough up $3 and check out the pilot. see if you don't agree..Score: 5/5

Season 1.5Season 1.5 started October 2010. 1.0 = 10 episodes. 1.5 = 10 more episodes (I'm assuming). So that's 20 episodes. At $3 each x 20 = $60 if you buy individually. Season pass is $55, so you'd save $5 bucks. This is for the previous review, I don't think you realize there 9 more episodes coming in addition to the 11 already posted at the time of your review. Great Pure Sci-Fi EntertainmentI wasn't so sure about this when I knew it was coming. As an uber-fan of BSG, it was hard to imagine the prequel concept working. But this is so well written and so imaginatively different yet loosely connected to BSG that it really works. The characters (most of them) are likeable and interesting, and the concepts are actually more high-minded than those of BSG - clearly a trade-off for action, since that is where this show falls short. With a bit more action and slightly less over-arching dialog, this would be a better balanced show - but it is otherwise a very solid four and a half stars. Kudos to SyFy for giving us something great to watch, especially after the show that is ruining an entire franchise - Stargate Universe (ugh that is some truly horrid television). I have told all my fellow sci-fi fans to give this show a shot. Can't wait to see what the second half of the season brings!.Score: 4/5
