Great Progress to Offer the HD Seasons of TNGBut come on, $70 for a single season? Come on! Stop gouging the fans! If you look there are newer and bigger shows like LOST where you can buy Seasons 1-3 as a set for $75! That is 3 seasons for the price of your 1 season of a 20 year old show. Part of me wishes that I had purchased the HD because on a 32" you can tell the difference if you're about a foot away, but for normal viewing the quality is fine. Via iPad there's an option to fill the screen, but it chops off some screen real estate top and bottom (which is lame on the opening sequence of the Enterprise and stars in front of a planet, so we usually just try and ignore the black bands left and right with the SD). ClassicThe Original Series may have started it all, but its "The Next Generation" that started the franchise on the road to Star Trek being the icon it is today. That being said though, the first couple of seasons were a bit tough to watch - especially the first 10 or so episodes. The acting was wooden and the stories tried too much to emulate the 1960s show. The show definitely lacked polish. The new Star Trek - TNGWhen TNG first started it was a bold move. Just the design of the new Enterprise-D was considered controversial as were many of the other changes that upset those used to the original series. The first season definitely highlights a series trying to find itā€™s way. Sometimes successfully, sometimes not. There are really no outstanding episodes in this season. although Encounter at Farpoint is worth a watch as is Where No One Has Gone Before and 11001001. Other notable episodes are Skin of Evil which sees Tasha Yar killed off, Conspiracy for itā€™s controversial violence and the Neutral Zone that brings back the Romulans. The first two seasons of TNG often had problems with lighting which the HD remaster resolves as well as giving us finally removing the fuzzy look of the show and tidying up the SFX at the same time.
