If you liked MI-5, you will like thisIts understandable that people who have not watched MI-5, the TV show, would make the assumption that this is a knock-off of Mission Impossible. It is not. I thought it was good and Peter was excellent. Lets face it, this is more or less a TV movie. No one should be trying to compare it to some international released blockbuster. Its very good for what it is..Score: 4/5
Clearly written for fans of the showThis movie isn't a movie so much as a TV movie follow up to the show MI5, aka Spooks. Without knowing the style of the show, this movie doesn't really stand on its own. A lack of that prior knowledge might explain why some folks assume that this is some kind of ripoff of the Mission Impossible films. As a follow up it is a good entry into the tale wing all the cheeses hokum that the show had, which is actually part of what made it great. And Kit is a decent successor to the string of easy on the eyes gents that filled the main slot of the show.Score: 3/5
MI-5 - NOT a rip off of the Mission Impossible brand. If you liked the TV series, you'll like this. The main for this review os really to respond to MikeTheSnowman's review claiming a rip-off of the Mission Impossible brand, pressumably because of the "MI" in the name. Four points: 1. MI-5 is the name of the British internal intelligence agency - soemwhat similar to the FBI. You get that right? 2. The TV series from which this film is spun off has been on the go for 13 years - back then the Mission Impossible franchise was still called "Mission Impossible", not "M:I whatever". Who's ripping off who? 3. The real name of this TV / Film series is 'Spooks' (slang for spies). But unfortunately that was deemed too un-PC for our delicate American sensibilities so the name of the TV series was changed for its US release. 4. Finally, what aspect of the Mission Impossible franchise is in any way original itself?.Score: 4/5
A disappointment to a decade long fanHaving been a “Spooks” fan for almost 10 years, I was thrilled to know there was motion picture. However, the plot line and acting, with the exception of Peter Firth was WAY below “Spooks” standards. Even the guy who played Gasim sounded like he was trying to imitate Robert Downey Jr. in his bad American accent. The plot line was scrambled at best and the dialogue was very much predictable. I stretched and give this a 3 star rating just because of the title. #stillafan.Score: 3/5
Shocker.I haven’t seen the television series, but as a standalone movie this is terrible. I couldn’t finish watching it, THAT bad. And Kit Harington is awful..Score: 1/5

Haphazard writing good acting mishmashI wanted to like this as I love the MI5 series. However to say that is rhythmically disjointed as a narrative work is an understatement. No aspect of the plot is ever developed clearly enough to be able to attach one’s attention and empathy for anyone or any theme. Thereby one is catapulted around this exciting action movie like a pinball in a game until one has a headache. Oh, the major attack is averted , while several other plots , subplots , are going at once. Twists and turns are one thing , this is just a mess. However, it achieves an oddly visceral true to life aspect now and then . If this vision was disciplined emotionally, there might be a possible type of direction in this approach. Sadly , this does not make use of the fine cast, and the scene at Ruth’s grave is maudlin , and bizarre. All in all, it does have a cerebral aspect that kept me wondering , more than the mission impossible and bond movies, but , nothing like the series which was riveting and better cast all around. Kit was surprisingly quite good, the regulars from the series, were fine, but the others, ehh, Jennifer Ehle is miscast as the head of MI5, as are several others , but of course she is never bad , just out of place in my opinion..Score: 3/5
