It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Waltz), but those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.

Tarzan, having acclimated to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment.

Really enjoyed this.Was not sure I would like this but since there seems to be only a handful of movies I've wanted to see this year, I took a chance. The books are always better, but not having read them I really enjoyed the movie on it's own. I liked the charectors and the movie moved a good pace. I would definitely watch again, and have. Save yourself the time, go watch the animated version insteadNothing seems to work in this version. There is no chemistry between the actors, the CGI , while good , takes away from the scene, the story is just weak and Tarzan is terrible The Tarzan character is always standing in such way to show you his body. He always has the same smug look on his face regardless of the what is happening around him. SLJ character, why? Why include him at all? Throw in a big star and hope he pulls it together? While other movies are highlighting how strong women are and how they don't need to wait to be rescued by men, Tarzan does the exact opposite. Jane wait there, Tarzan is coming to save the day because you are just a woman. Terrible! The end scene, without giving it away, why not use your hands to get out of the mess you are in? There is nothing stopping you from standing up and taking it off. Seriously, this tried too hard to be the real life version of the Disney version of Tarzan. Avoid it if you can.CorvennScore: 2/5

Expecting betterI usually don't agree with rotten tomatoes on their rating of movies, especially when the movie has 4 stars but this movie was quite terrible. Tarzan story reimagined but in a way that didn't add to the story at all. Would not recommend this at all..DJBoristoScore: 2/5

Corny But Also REALLY EntertainingThis was a movie that was almost certainly bound to fail. We all know the character, throw in some thin PC cause, some fake animals courtesy of CGI, and well I was prepared to give it a 1 or 2 star rating. But to my surprise I actually enjoyed it. Yea, it was corny and cliche in places but the sets and acting really save this movie from a predictable plot. I bought it and am glad I did. Oh, and get a Marvel costume on Skarsgard. Visually Great!Plot and dialogue is absolutely stupid, but the overall movie is surprisingly good. Visually, the filming and CGI is spectacular. It felt like a 3D movie. Tarzan and Jane well acted. They connected and looked so good together. Jackson (how many movies is he involved?) just seemed dumb for comic relief. Waltz was extremely irritating, but acted well. WTF???I was renting this movie and waited for like an hour or more and I accidentally press the pause button and all of a sudden I can't watch it until it expire within 48 hrs??? Want my money back. Curious line-walkingThe original concept for Tarzan was rumored to be an author deciding to write the worst idea, and finding success. there are problems with the original story that make it untenable as a new product, but as 'product of it's time' it can be allowed. i grew up watching the old serials played on saturday morning t.v. with Cheetah the monkey etc, and there's several doctoral theses available to be mined about racism and cultural appropriation... maybe even about the tarzan yodel. this movie managed to catch the energy i felt as a six year old, and strained it throught the modern filters of 'wake-ness', to attempt to have it as culturally appropriate as one can. a tough call, and not always perfect, but Yates and company managed to amuse my inner six year old far better than the rebooted Star Trek movies or even the MCU spiderman. almost felt like watching Scoobie Doo again, too.
