When U.S. Marine Gabriel Drummer (Shia LaBeouf) returns home from his tour in Afghanistan, he finds that the place he once called home is no better than the battlefields where he fought overseas. Accompanied by his best friend Devin Roberts (Jai Courtney), a hard-nosed Marine whose natural instinct is to shoot first and ask questions later, he searches desperately for the whereabouts of his estranged son, Johnathan (Charlie Shotwell), and wife Natalie (Kate Mara). In their search, the two intercept Charles (Clifton Collins Jr.), a man carrying vital information about the whereabouts of Gabriel’s family. As we revisit the past, we are guided through the unraveling of the puzzle of Gabriel's experience, and what will eventually lead us to finding his family. A psychological suspense thriller, "Man Down" also stars Gary Oldman.

Must see!An incredible film! I can't say it enough. Shia LaBeouf's performance is heartbreaking and unforgettable, my favorite of his so far. Gary Oldman brings such depth to the role of Counselor Peyton and watching him and LaBeouf interact is something really special, a masterclass in acting. The writing is also spectacular. Adam G. Simon effectively throws you into this world and keeps you guessing until the end. Thank you for creating such an important piece of film..Score: 5/5

Sheep hate ShaiAll these negative reviews truly shows how far we are as a society from actually caring about each other. First, most of the comments are from people who never purchased this film on iTunes, so let’s fix that Apple. Second, most people just follow the masses, like lost sheep. When Shai did some off the wall things in his personal life, Hollywood (and the disease that plagues it) did their best to ruin him and his career. That’s when the herd started to hate. Third, Shai is a human being. That means, just like everyone leaving hateful comments about him or this film, he’s made some mistakes and some poor judgements in life. That does NOT take away how great of a an actor he really is. I agree that not all military Veterans suffer from extreme PTSD, or even any at all. But this film was researched and those Veterans who DO suffer from PTSD allowed Shai into their personal lives so he could do an accurate portrayal of “their” experiences after returning home from war. Every human is different, in all areas of life. We should do a better job at caring and getting to know what makes us uncomfortable or nervous. I credit Shai for taking on this role knowing Mary and all her little sheep would reject it. And lastly, go watch Shai in The Peanut Butter Falcon and then tell yourself the guy isn’t a talented actor. If you still don’t see it, then I think it’s time to go get your wool trimmed from around your ears and eyes. Maybe then you can see for yourself and actually listen to more than just the echoes..Score: 5/5

HeartA compelling, moving story that has so much to say. How we treat our veterans. How we treat our families. The ugly side of love. The beautiful side of tragedy. Everything is here. I would encourage everyone giving it a one star review because they aren't fond of a particular actor or because of what they may have heard from an overly political audience WHO HAVEN'T ACTUALLY WATCHED IT to give it a chance. I never saw combat so I defer to those who have.Judging by the reviews here from our military vets, this movie fails. I think it's probably impossible to tell these kinds of stories unless it's from those that have actually served and witnessed not only combat, but loss, trauma and stress from the job. While man down does have the best of intentions (the pre credit roll gives some truly grim statistics for returning vets) It clearly doesn't deliver the story or, the intended message it intended too. I'd like the to echo another reviewer here who said that a movie about returning vets finding a job and dealing with the VA is the story that needs to be told. All that being said, it's clear that the actor, the writer and director were trying to say something to draw attention to veterans needs. It just didn't work..Score: 2/5
