Five years, eight months, 12 days...and counting. That’s how long Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) has been devising the biggest heist of her life. She knows what it’s going to take—a team of the best in their field, starting with her partner-in-crime Lou Miller (Cate Blanchett). Together, they recruit a crew of specialists: jeweler Amita (Mindy Kaling); street con Constance (Awkwafina); expert fence Tammy (Sarah Paulson); hacker Nine Ball (Rihanna); and fashion designer Rose (Helena Bonham Carter). The target is a cool $150 million dollars in diamonds—diamonds that will be around the neck of world-famous actress Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway), who will be centerstage at the event of the year, the Met Gala. The plan is rock solid, but everything will need to be flawless if the team is going to get in and get away with the ice. All in plain sight.
Every con has its pros. Debbie Ocean, a criminal mastermind, gathers a crew of female thieves to pull off the heist of the century at New York's annual Met Gala.. Ocean's 8 Wiki
I feel like all the bad reviews are written by men. Go figure. I loved this movie. It’s an all star cast and it’s just good. I can’t think of anything bad to say about it.
I don’t know what those people are saying. Definitely one of my favorites!
I only had two disappointments. First, the formula is virtually identical to the first all-male Ocean’s 11. It was different enough and so well produced that it was not a big deal. Second,I’ve never liked the actress playing the fence / hoarder. Almost anyone would’ve been better, but McKinnon would’ve rocked that roll into orbit. Otherwise, it’s always fun to watch women being their bada$$ selves, and Sandra Bullock as Clooney’s sister was perfect. The whole “are they just friends or ...” subtleties between Bullock and Blanchett was incredibly well done. Hathaway very slightly overplayed Daphne at the end, making the movie a smidgen less satisfying for me. The movie got panned so bad there probably won’t be a followup, but if there is, getting a new fence, and somehow roping Julia Roberts into the action would be phenom.
Funny, interesting, great actors!
Short of a few gimmicks the reboot lacks luster. Dialogue is less than witty, seemingly more cropped and basic. What may have sounded like an interesting take resulted in just another disappointing sequel, more so with the subtle political push of an all female cast.
I won’t say much about this movie as I don’t want to waste too much time of mine or yours reading this review. This is a quick cash grab and nothing more, no real script with any interesting dialogue, poor plot with poor excuses for motivations of characters, poor directing or maybe lazy acting. I was barely able to finish this movie please do not waste your time or money on this piece of trash.
All Ace's in my book! Gr-8 Job Ladies! Collect them all 8-13!
Frankly, I don’t know why everyone is giving this movie so much crap. It was a quality film with a great cast and a surprising ending. Seeing the concept of Oceans 11 with women was really empowering and nice to see in this genre of movies that is mostly cast with men. Highly recommend.
Best movie ever! So many twists and turns, it’s awesome. Would highly recommended!!! It does swear but nothing else bad!
thought it would be bad bc of the reviews but this movie is so good. i recommend watching it! also love that sarah paulson and rihanna are in it!
It was done well but all it left me with "look at us women can do this type of movie too". There was no thrill, not tension. It was just a heist that was smooth. If anything waaay too smooth. And revenge on the bad ex boyfriend. It's so not original. Just to make it with women coz we can do it too? I don't find this movie a good represenation of women run/acted movies. -- ps I am a woman writing this review.
Not great :/
Could not finish it. Wild horses can’t drag me back. A way to forget?
Not going to lie... it was horrible. Very hard to watch. If you thought the reboot of Oceans Eleven was even watchable... Frank, Sammy and Dean are all rolling in their graves right now. This movie makes you think... that Sandra should have stayed on that damn bus!!
too many women movies metoo that
Kept me entertained throughout and loved the characters, plot and actors/actresses
The acting is pretty good, the plot lacked the high standard I expect from an Oceans movie through. Overall, the humor and acting are pretty good!
Great flick... Love Bullock now more than ever!
Loved the movie
Lousy acting, poor plot, too many assumptions, not worth wasting your time or money.
