I find that it was a good idea for the storyline.. firstly the original movie was being excavated in Iraq. I don’t know when pure black voodoo tribes were ruling that area(not and never did). Heck we have recently found out Egypt was ruled by Germanic tribes or originally were from the north.
But Iraq was Turkish territory for many centuries.
