Believing his career is over, Senator Jay Bulworth (Warren Beatty) takes out an enormous insurance policy - and a contract on his own life. But his impending death fills him with an outrageous desire to break the rules and tell it like it is. With new enthusiasm to live, fueled in part by a beautiful woman named Nina (Halle Berry), Bulworth must now somehow stop the "hit" he has put out on himself before its too late.
A suicidally disillusioned liberal politician puts a contract out on himself and takes the opportunity to be bluntly honest with his voters by affecting the rhythms and speech of hip-hop music and culture.

You have to be a spirit - not a ghost!In real life it's usually an ugly thing to see someone loose all inhibition and say what they really think. Not so in the movies! I give Bulworth 5 stars for speaking its mind even if some speeches are mindless. BulworthThis is an AMAZING movie. Halle Berry is very good and believe it or not, Warren Beatty is great in this role of a politician who basically makes a deal with the devil, then has to renege and suffer the consequences. The music is great, too. The dance scene with Halle and Warren in the club has some of the best cinematography I have ever seen. If you are a film afficionado, you will appreciate that scene. Lobbyists legally buying the vote of our politicians who are supposed to fight for the rights of it's people. DonIn short: a racist fantasy of the noble white man rescuing the savage from his primitive, g-dless ways while renewing his "authenticity" through a change in perspective that happens when you're among the tragically backwards and ignorant. This type of story is racist. It has always been racist. It has never been courageous nor honest, and I have no idea why people could possibly suspect that it was. Make no mistake, this is nothing new, this is the same old implausible garbage where some blue blood white guy does a painfully embarrassing minstrel show the entire time, chewing the scenery while spouting the most odious of stereotypes. As with all of these nauseating tales, he is, of course, given a warm reception by those wacky "colored people" (his words) whom he lampoons. They do not seem to know any better, because they themselves are written as not characters, but rather vessels for those very same stereotypes. It is unbearable..Score: 1/5
