The future isn't big enough for the both of them--the 21st century's most dangerous cop and the 21st century's most ruthless criminal. Sandra Bullock stars as a 21st century cop who resorts to desperate measures to apprehend a killer: she reanimates a no-holds-barred 20th century cop who had been sentenced to cryoprison, a cop known in an earlier century as the Demolition Man. When psychopathic killer Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes--Blade films) escapes cryoprison during a mandatory parole hearing, only officer Lenina Huxley (Bullock--Crash, Miss Congeniality films) has a play to stop a criminal rampage from causing havoc in her now-peaceful world: free the one man capable of stopping Phoenix--officer John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone--Rocky films, Rambo films). Now, two men from another time bring a level of nonstop action long unseen in this future, idyllic world.

Simon Phoenix, a violent criminal cryogenically frozen in 1996, escapes during a parole hearing in 2032 in the utopia of San Angeles. Police are incapable of dealing with his violent ways and turn to his captor, who had also been cryogenically frozen after being wrongfully accused of killing 30 innocent people while apprehending Phoenix.

Pure AwesomenessKeep your oscar nominations and philosophical critiques far away from this hunk of pure awesomeness. Huxley would be proud!For those who haven't figured this out already, this movie is loosely based on the book Brave New World. Lots of the elements are in this: a future of total pacifism controlled by a seemingly benevolent dictator, conditioning of people's behavior, prohibition of natural reproduction (the movie goes further by outlawing sex and even kissing), and a group of rebels living apart from this society ( in this case underground. Even some of the character names are the same: in the book, John "the Savage", in the movie John Spartan, who is labeled as savage, in the book, Lenina Crowne, in the movie Lenina Huxley (same surname as the book's author). I admit the film adds more comedy (my favorite was that anti-cursing machine) and A LOT of action, but the message of the book remains. I must simply say, well down..Vault Dweller 1Score: 5/5

The Future is here!Simply Awesome combination of SciFi meets real world today. Take a good look at the movie, notice tablets being used for conference, making telephone calls on your TV and self driving cars. All these concepts we have now and this was introduced back in the 90s, movie was ahead of its time. Now if we can cryogentic prisoners and make Taco Bell the last remaining chain restaurant in the world. A Lotta FunI found this movie to be a very clever study of the imperfection of a "perfect" society. I don't need to get too deep, as this is a "popcorn movie". I honestly think this is Sly's best non-Rocky-or-Rambo movie. Wesley Snipes is just as much of a scene-stealer as Sly. As well, it has a great sense of humour. Tough to rateIt's tough to rate this movie. It's good, but it's borderline low budget sci-fi. I think they were going for a good sci-fi but it's more of a comedy in all the scenes with dialogue. Demolition ManThis movie is a classic. Stallone, Bullock, Snipes, and many more in a cleverly written futuristic look at corruption in "a perfect world." No matter how bad some of the acting or script is, I find this movie entertaining every time I watch it. Some of the futuristic lingo becomes catchy...mark my words.
