Struggling to make ends meet, Gardner finds himself and his five year old son evicted from their San Francisco apartment with nowhere to go. When Gardner lands an internship at a prestigious stock brokerage firm, he and his son endure many hardships, including being homeless and living in shelters, in pursuit of his dream of a better life for the two of them.

The American DreamThis film tells a story that has been told countless times by an untold number of people who pursued the American Dream. It's a story of a man who made sure his son knew who his father was, and gone through tough times, both personally, professionally, and finacially, but pursued his dreams of providing for his son. Will Smith and his real life son, in his debut film, tells the story of Chris Gardner and his son as they experiance homelessness, poverty and the notion that one day, things will be better. It's both heartbreaking and inspiring and shows through hard work, determination and the right opportunities, anyone can succeed and realize their dreams. If people think that hand-outs are the way, they are wrong. I'm not condemming help in whatever shape it comes in, it's up to the individual to make it happen.
