Sleek, well-dressed and polite, our hero (Daniel Craig) has made a fortune selling cocaine and ecstasy without really getting his hands dirty. Now he's looking to retire while he's young enough to enjoy his ill-gotten gains. But crime boss Jimmy Price (Kenneth Cranham) needs a couple of favors: The drug addict daughter of a mob overlord (Michael Gambon) has gone missing and Price wants her tracked down. Price also wants a middleman to buy a huge shipment of ecstasy from a loose-cannon crook called The Duke (Jamie Foreman). Sounds straightforward enough. But nothing's ever simple. With a renegade Serbian warlord thrown into the equation and a host of dangerous lowlifes out to help and hinder him, our hero soon realizes getting out of the drug business just might cost him everything. Including his life.

Layer Upon Needless Layer CakeSure am glad I didn't buy this because I tend to favor movies that have coherent plot-lines. See if this rings a bell: The kind of movie that were you to break it up into twenty segments, each five minutes long...then watch any one of the aforementioned segments, you might think to yourself 'this looks like it might be good'. Unfortunately, watch any two concurrent segments and you'll possibly find yourself thinking -as I did- 'What is going on? What's the point of that? That makes no sense whatsoever. Meh.This movie is really not in the same league as snatch, lock/stock or rocknrolla. those are darker comedies involving british gangsters. this is a movie that takes itself a bit too seriously. daniel craig is really quite excellent in it - but the plot is predictable (thanks to lock/stock and snatch defining the genre in recent history), but lacks the seemingly unrelated events and players coming together to create a wonderfully cohesive plot and the cast of characters isn't that memorable aside from mr. x - so it comes off as a daniel craig film. all in all a good movie, not great, but good. if you're a big fan of the guy ritchie flicks, this merits a watch but don't expect the same kind of movies he's made - vaughn takes this genre in an entirely different direction with less humor and a bit less action..InkstaticScore: 3/5

Layer Cake: Cult Movie Revealed in LayersWatched this movie the first time and thought it was OK. However, its one of those movies that percolates into your system days after. Upon repeat viewing, its true cult appeal was revealed. The story as its name suggests holds interesting multiple layers, great mens fashion and trendy music that all help make "the cake". British gangster styled in a vein similar but more serious than "Lox, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch". Was interested in seeing more acting from Sienna Miller but found that the movie writers did not give much personality to her character besides fashion from Victoria's Secret. Deutsch Ein namenloser Kokaindealer aus London hat die Nase voll vom Drogengeschäft und plant seinen Ausstieg, um mit seinen Ersparnissen in die Immobilienbranche einzusteigen. Český Elegantní, vkusně oblečený a zdvořilý hrdina beze jména (DANIEL CRAIG) je dokonalý profesionál. Při svých obchodech s kokainem a extází vydělal nejvíce na tom, že se snažil chovat nenápadně a mít po celou dobu čisté ruce. Nyní se rozhodl s obchody skoncovat, opustit svět zločinu, drog a násilí a zařídit si s pomocí peněz, které se mu podařilo nashromáždit, klidný a spokojený život. Ještě předtím jej však čekají dvě drobné služby pro jeho bosse Jimmyho Pricea (KENNETH CRANHAM): musí najít ztracenou, drogově závislou dceru mocného zločince Eddieho Templea (MICHAEL GAMBON) a dojednat prodej obří zásilky extáze s nekontrolovatelným nýmandem (JAMIE FOREMAN), který si hraje na mnohem většího gangstera, než jakým ve skutečnosti je. Nic se ale nedaří podle plánu a to, co původně vypadalo jako rutinní transakce, je ve skutečnosti dokonalý chaos.
