Harper, the wisecracking private investigator, goes to New Orleans to help out an old flame, Iris Deveraux. After the murder of her mother- in-law, someone implicates Iris and attempts to blackmail her. Harper has more suspects than he needs - Iris' sixteen-year-old Lolita-esque daughter, a former chauffer, a businessman and his kinky wife, and even Iris herself. What he uncovers is a web of tangled affairs and distractions all clouded by the murky water of the drowning pool.
Harper is brought to Louisiana to investigate an attempted blackmail scheme. He soon finds out that it involves an old flame of his and her daughter. He eventually finds himself caught in a power struggle between the matriarch of the family and a greedy oil baron, who wants their property. Poor Harper! Things are not as straight-forward as they initially appeared.

Only of you are boredA mildly interesting diversion…that was my impression as well. If you are a Paul Newman fan that is all it is. If you are looking for something truly outstanding, you will not be satisfied with this little piece. I recommend it to those who are curled up on the couch with a BIG bottle of wine on a Friday night with nothing to do, nowhere to go and no one to distract you..Score: 3/5
