Working together for the 12th time, John Wayne and director John Ford forged The Searchers into an indelible image of the frontier and the men and women who challenged it. Great in its timeI'm more of a Clint Eastwood expert than a John Wayne connoisseur, however I do have great respect for the Duke. Being of a later generation, I thought that some of the scenes and some dialogue were a little off or exagerated to fit stereotypes. On the other hand, I was amazed by the scenery: you don't get to see the Texas west in other movies like you can in this one. I also appreciated the story set up and the sense of dedication the protagonist develop. I must admit I missed Mr. Wayne's transformation from a hard man to a more compasionate one since it seems to happen suddenly. On the other hand, I was impressed by the fact that despite having a movie with a low tone when it comes to violence, it still managed to give me chills when hearing about the many atrocities people had to endure in those times. If I could of given it a 3 and a half star, I would of, since I was glad to have seen it once..Aylmer90Score: 3/5
