Rachel getting marriedThis is an excellent movie. Even though I had heard good things about the movie, I was still pleasantly surprised at how well written and acted it was. Ms. Hathaway was brilliant as Kim. The director also did a fantastic job developing several other key characters without sliding off onto wandering tangents. An unexpected back story is wonderfully used to weave the story together and a delightfully unexpected fashion. I also note that the movie as well researched with impeccable attention to and investment in detail. I especially note the reference do a well known Jamaican "sound system" and "dancehall venue" that brought instant credibility with me as a reggae lover..Score: 4/5

MeeehI saw this movie in theaters. The acting, amazing. The direction and writing, not so much. It looks like someone grabbed a camera and just trailed some alcoholic's life, with like, a mini twist that could have been pulled into a great story-line, but was overlooked and it was CASUALLY mentioned in a scene. Suddenly, you're pulled into a confusing set of scenes with a couple emotional moments. But I have to stress COUPLE. Again, the acting was AMAZING. Though I agree with some that "The movie sucked", the oscar nom WAS worth it..Score: 3/5

BrilliantThis is one of those wonderful films that, if it hadn't have been made by someone like Jonathon Demme, would rarely see the light of day. If you're looking for a typical Hollywood story this is not for you! But if you're looking for one of those amazing independentesque films like Dinner With Andre, or Manhattan, then you will love this. Shot simply, an almost Dogma like feel, this film has excellent acting, a simple but moving story, and captures the intricacies of family politics in intimate detail. I only wish they'd let me do the poster because the one they have totally fails at capturing what this film is all about..Score: 5/5

The subject of inter-racial marriage receives a refreshingly sophisticated treatment by virtue of the fact that it is portrayed as acceptable to the point of unremarkable and commonplace. Amazing and i don't care who knows it!I saw the premiere of this movie in Toronto and i was absolutely amazed by it. From a film makers perspective it's so unconventional but entirely realistic. With the angles that it uses and how it makes you feel like you're one of the characters listening in. It feels so realistic and unconventional it's quite spectacular. I was surprised with Anne's roll, but she delivered it perfectly. Well done!.Score: 5/5
