Drive Description

Drive, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, about a Hollywood stunt performer (Gosling) who moonlights as a wheelman for criminals discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong.

Los Angeles 1999 - The Future: where water is a scarce as oil, and climate change keeps the temperature at a cool 115 in the shade. It's a place where crime is so rampant that only the worst violence is punished, and where Arthur Bailey - the city's last good cop - runs afoul of the dirtiest and meanest underground car rally in the world, Blood Drive. The master of ceremonies is a vaudevillian nightmare, The drivers are homicidal deviants, and the cars run on human blood.

Drive Movie Reviews

  • Top modern noire since Chinatown

Drive is a brass knuckle punch in the teeth, a love story that teeters between the melodic and the horrifying. The music is spot on and the minimalist approach is appreciated. Fantastic movie!
  • real, human, heroic

Inspirational and full of hope, of beauty... in its own drama. Piece of ART.
  • Amazing

Baby Driver spent way more trying to do what this movie did perfectly. If you walk away from this unchanged, you hate quality cinema.
  • Phenomenal

One of my all time favorite movie. Everything in it is like able, the acting, cinematography, and the soundtrack. I'd give it a 10/10

  • Great movie

Never been the biggest gosling fan. But this movie is def one of my favorites of all time dude. This is def one of those movies no one ever really hears about but is great from beginning to end. Kudos. Both the writing and directing was amazing. Not to mention one of the best movies ive seen where the music fits every scene perfectly matching its mood. Definately a masterpiece
  • It's a drama, not an action flick

The preview makes it look like an action movie, but 95% of the movie is about the interactions between the characters. The main character doesn't have a lot of dialogue, but that's because his actions are his main source of character development. You see an emotional character arc develop with very little overt exposition. There are some dark, violent moments, but their presence is intermittent, which helps to highlight the impact of those scenes. The movie leaves you feeling a bit hollow, but I think that's the point.
  • #1

    Awesome movie with amazing soundtrack...
  • Amazing, stylish thriller

    Amazing, stylish thriller.
  • Love it classic

A good movie when you want to just sit back and watch something it doesn't need a story. It explains itself if you pay attention to small detail Easter eggs to the back story just pay attention you may have to watch it a couple of times for it all to click in your head.
  • Hated it

I spent my money at a theater for this cinematic excellence yeah right more like being in a car with a mute....he speak all of what feels like 10 words in the movie I saw no point was completely bored and annoyed!!!
  • Hold on tight for this one!

I absolutely loved this movie, Ryan Gosling is amazing in it. From the opening to the absolute end it keeps moving, never a dull moment. There are some pretty violent scenes that definitely makes this a film for adults. Has an indie flavor to it and the soundtrack is perfect for the film. I rented, then bought this film.
  • Great movie, wrong aspect ratio on iTunes

iTunes is the only place I've seen that has the incorrect aspect ration for Drive. The Blu-Ray, iTunes UK, and even Netflix get it right. Drive is presented here in an "open matte" format throwing off the composition. If you have an eye for it, you will definitely notice, otherwise, download away!
  • The Elevator

Being in a Situation which changes everything! Last chance for being close because after his kiss he has to turn into a monster. You can´t turn it back, she can´t forget him she can´t love him. that´s the choice for live but that´s the choice for being doomed. So that scene is the essence!
  • Simply amazing

The bad reviews on here are written by jaded movie goers. If they felt like walking out of the theater, maybe they should've gone to see the latest Micheal Bay explosion orgy. Maybe that would hold their attention better than a smart, incredibly well developed movie with top notch acting, great cinematography, and extraordinary sound track. The thing you have to know before seeing this movie is that you need to pay attention to details. Everything in the movie is there for a reason. From a reference to a story about a scorpion to driver's collar position. This movie is so well crafted and developed that it instantly took my number one favorite movie spot and cemented Ryan Gosling in my mind as one of the greatest actors of this generation, but that isn't to overlook his co stars. Carrie mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, all of these characters are simply breath taking to watch. And a highlight of the movie for me was the relationship between driver and carrie's character. It isn't your typical "guy meets girl. They like eachother. Sex". In fact, there is no physical recognition of their feelings for eachother and not even a conversation about it. The entire relationship unfolds in simple tight exchanges, mostly consisting of smiles and other looks. This movie tells the kind of story you want to pour over for hours and hours. The only movie that recently made such an impact on me was place beyond the pines, another movie showcasing Gosling's acting chops. This movie is a must watch, must buy, must brag, must blog about. You WILL NOT regret it
  • Why

I was bored for two hours, worst movie I've watched lately
  • Intense!

Really good movie. Very intense. The main character is all action and takes no prisoners. Good flick!!!
  • "Drive"

A TERRIFIC movie!! Ryan Gosling's BEST performance :)
  • Still upset that I paid to see it in the theater!

If you're up for some over the unessecary violence, lame car chases, and robotic conversation then this is your movie! Ryan Gosling seemed to be playing someone who was mentally challenged (or perhaps he's just a poor actor). If I could give it zero stars, I glady would.
  • Pure masterpiece!

It's a little thrilling and unpredictable, which makes it awesome. Great movie!
