Inspired by true events, Compliance tells the chilling story of just how far one might go to obey a figure of authority. On a particularly busy day at a suburban Ohio fast food joint, high-strung manager Sandra (Ann Dowd) receives a phone call from a police officer saying that an employee, a pretty young blonde named Becky (Dreama Walker), has stolen money from a customer. Convinced she’s only doing what’s right, Sandra commences the investigation, following step-by-step instructions from the officer at the other end of the line, no matter how invasive they become.

How stupid can people beThis movie is a spotlight on the lowest common denominator of American Society. After watching this it is not hard to see just how America got into the financial and economic jam it is in today. You can translate the gullibility of these folks into the naivety of Americans show in trusting information presented by mainstream media. The real idiotsAre the people who commented before saying that this movie isn’t actually based on true events. It’s actually almost entirely based on reality as reported by the news, to the point where I cringed because it seemed disrespectful to the actual victim. The reason it’s thought provoking, at least to anyone who is capable of having thoughts provoked, is because it’s amazing the extent to which people will listen to authority. Frankly I think it’s the perfect example to show why instead of teaching people to mindlessly obey cops we should be holding cops accountable for their crappy behavior. This is the kind of crap that happens when people are taught to OBEY..Score: 3/5
A would-be stroke of geniusA brilliant portrait of a demagogue having a blast with gullible folks wanting to do the right thing. Unfortunately, at the end the story entirely misses the point. We are not being told how these folks voted in the last elections..Score: 4/5
Compliance or Dumb?This movie is utterly ridiculous. "Based on true events," guess i'm a sucker for a truish story about dumb people. "Thought Provoking," I think not. More like utterly frustrated with people that don't reason through things, like in the movie, and then with people that post reviews like thought provoking. Seriously, the only thoughts I had were this was a poor choice to waist $3.99 on (sorry if you purchased), these people are dumb, and there are a lot more dumb people according to the stat posted at the end of the movie. Disturbing.The story based on true events is very unnerving and a few of the scenes were difficult to sit through. The production is very clean and well done. I can't imagine how certain people would go to such extremes to 'obey' authorities, or lack thereof. I would not watch this again..Score: 2/5
